While I understand your concern, you evidently miss the realities!

(a) ID advocates are taking over astronomy clubs. Literally hijacking them
in some cases.
(b) Astronomy clubs are "educating" IDers and churches now.
Some clubs see it as their mission. Some clubs "MUST" answer
calls from all sources as per their "educational, financial, and
State mandated charters", as well as club constitutions!

You may not like it but many club members are now caught in the
middle, literally. Forced out in some cases with their club hijacked
by club drunks and the bottomfeeders. Some clubs are sanctioning
members if their do not cooperate.

Clubs have the "right of association". If a club is hijacked by IDers
then the IDers chose who to associate with or not? And there is
literally nothing of a legal nature club members can do except leave.
All the complaining in the world does nothing and the media usually
supports the IDers!

So this may be tripe to us. For many amateur astronomers this
has become living reality.
