Don't be too sure about that.
Newt Gingrich riles up leftwingers. So?
He's no more "damaged goods" than, for example, Hillary, who's hated
by more people than Adolph Hitler was. Yet she's considered Dems'
frontrunning "candidate".
The fact Gingrich riles up leftwingers might just be a good thing.
He's far more interesting than McCain or Rudy G.
Smarter too.
I'll vote for Gingrich. I'd prefer to vote for Condoleezza Rice.

I hope so. The GOP needs all the help they can get
nowadays. I think that's why they've been floating
balloons for what can only be described as Liberal
Republican candidates: pro-abortion, pro-homosexual
"marriage", "civil unions" for abominable adulterers,
open borders, and similarly weak on national defense,
and generally Liberal on every sociopolitical issue.
If the GOP wants their grass-roots Conservative base
to stay at home Tuesday November 4th, 2008, all they
need to do is continue what they're doing status quo.
I mean, what's it going to take, a nuclear war maybe?
If the hard-line extremist, Pinko Atheistic Anti-Xian
Liberal Left have, forsooth, struck the coup de grace
(which they've been working toward since 1947 to wit),
then we Conservatives ought to be man enough to admit
defeat. If it's over, it's over. If not, then give us
_real_ Conservative candidates that we can *vote* for.
Rejoice! God shall Judge America and the whole world.
The question is Which side of the aisle do *you* want
to be found on come Judgment Day? Best get there quick.

Well, kinda.
Neutie is still "behind the scenes", articulating
position papers and lecturing.
I seriously doubt that many ever watched his GOPAC
lectures aired on C-SPAN years ago----but if you had,
you'd see about 80% of his articulated "principles"
STILL being carried out by policy makers in the GOP
(including CPAC which is one of the policy making arms
of the RNC/GOP)
No doubt the phrase: "Who is better able to spend your
money----you or the government" was issued in his
lectures, and the grass roots workers were told to
"spread that phrase as "often as possible"
Today that is still used by nearly every republican.

It is a strange one, but Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, and Mao had more in
common with each other than they did with any democratic nation.

No, they didn't.

The distinction among totalitarians is far less than even within
democracies. The supposed ideals are meaningless -- power and absolute
control were what mattered to all four.

I would. Then I'd give a portion of that million dollars to someone
else's campaign, or to help several people get to the polls who would
offset my vote but otherwise wouldn't be able to for hardship reasons.

Yeah, and Rudy annulled his first marriage to his cousin, married
Donna Hanover, had 2 kids, fooled around in public, wasted $100ks in
city paid security details for his mistress, brought her to the
mayor's residence (Gracie Mansion) when his children were there.
His shady penny stock and fuzzy math based business dealings will
brighten up his candidacy. I read recently that he's trademarked his
name so he can sue any news outlet that publishes negative stories
which prints his name without permission. I can't wait for him to get
slapped down the first time he tries that.
But that doesn't even measure 1.0 on the richter scale compared to how
he disgraced himself during the 2004 GOP convention, when he, a man
who who thanks to three deferments, never served a second in the
military, belittled Kerry's volunteer service and his bravery at
turning his swiftboat into enemy fire to rescue U.S. troops.
Maybe Newt and Rudy will team up for the GOP ticket and run on the
platform of "(you will) Do what I say, not what I do".
