Once entirely decyphered, back in October 1996, Nostradamus'
poetry 'translated' into prose became a huge cobweb of events,
all linked, directly or indirectly, to the main event of his
hidden prophecy, the unintended destruction of Paris, on Sunday,
August 13, 2017, at 3:53 a.m.

Only from that perspective can the prophecy published by
Nostradamus make any sense at all. Those who have studied it over
the centuries have realized that it comes alive only when the
events it vaguely depicts are happening or have just happened. As
printed, it is perfectly useless to prevent anything at all. But
it shows that Nostradamus knew of these past events, perhaps in
the hope that -- having seen that he correctly saw our past, we
would logically infer from it his knowledge of our future.

The decyphered prose adds a bonus to this: we get to see the link
between various events from our past and the final event of the
prophecy. And if one divides the decyphered texts in distinct
threads of this cobweb, one finds one of those to refer to the
date of August 13.

As not too many historical events happened on a 13th of August,
Nostradamus often has to use minor events which did occur on a
particular August 13. Here is a short list:

Richelieu made France's Prime Minister on... August 13, 1624.
*
The Countess of Paris (recently deceased) born August 13, 1911.
*
Fidel Castro, born August 13, 1926.
*
The Berlin Wall, first erected August 13, 1961.
*
Belgian criminal Marc Dutroux, arrested August 13, 1996.
*
And a few other less memorable events.
*
So, if someone asks: why on Earth did Nostradamus bother speaking
of X or Y in his prophecy?, you might respond that -- if this X
or Y subject, although relatively unimportant, 'fits' one of the
threads from this 460-year historico-prophetic cobweb, then
that's why Nostradamus was interested in it.

In the present case, speaking of all the important (and not so
important) August 13s in history allows Nostradamus to tell us:
See? If I knew about these August 13s of your past, then why do
you think I was not able to see that most awful August 13, that
of 2017?

And, you must admit, the logic of it is impeccable. Here are some
of the other threads from his cobweb:

The theme of a friend accidentally killing a friend (like Gabriel
de Lorges killing King Henry II by mistake).
*
The theme of revenge, someone reacting in rage to an earlier
attack (like Pearl Harbor triggering Hiroshima and Nagasaki).
*
The theme of errors causing death, like the Titanic, the Estonia,
the Challenger, the Columbia, etc.
*
The theme of the development of modern missiles, from the German
V-2s to the US ICBM which nukes Paris by mistake.
*
The theme of the development of the atomic weapon, from
Einstein's letter to Roosevelt to the nuking of Paris.
*
The theme of prophecy itself, like Rasputin warning the Russian
Imperial family of its doom, if he were to be murdered by one of
its members.
*
The theme of astronomy/astrology applying to the fateful date of
August 13, 2017, between two eclipses, while the August 11, 1999,
eclipse of the Sun drew a path of totality passing near the
unintended target of the 2017 missile, and while the August 21,
2017, total eclipse -- from the very same Saros -- forms a path
of totality passing near the point of origin of that same US
missile which nuked Paris eight days before, i.e., the
Northwestern United States (you can check this one on NASA's
website).

And many other themes all pointing to the circumstances of the
destruction of Paris, i.e., the US, her President, her history,
her long friendship with France, making the sacrifice of
thousands of her sons to boot Hitler's SS out of France, etc.

All of this to warn the good people of Paris of what happens 14
years from today, August 13.
