The 'disease' isn't transmitted that way.
What do you know? Yes, there ARE calves that have been diagnosed with the
disease that had NOT eaten any bone meal. Mad cow, BSE in cattle, CJD in
humans is caused by a prion, not a virus, not a bacteria. It is not living,
it is a molecule that is duplicated in the nervous system. If you get one of
those bad boys in you and it gets into your nervous system (typically
through the digestive system and into the nervous system through the spleen)
it can take 30 years to find out. There is no known cure. DO NOT confuse the
statement in the press "there is no evidence" to mean "it can not" because
there is VERY LITTLE that has been PROVEN scientifically. Even smoking has
NOT been proven to cause cancer. There are many people who smoke that do not
get cancer, and many people who eat beef and dairy products who do not get
CJD (as far as we know anyway, how many people have been tested before they
show symptoms?)
