``None of us can predict the future,'' he said. ``I hope and pray

that

the

precautions I've taken will prove unnecessary.''

Asked what advise he would have for Minnesotans who want to travel

to

Washington over the next few weeks, Dayton said, ``I wouldn't

advise

them

to

come to Capitol Hill. I would not bring my two sons to the capitol

between

now and the election.''

Interesting! Cite please???

Kind Regards,
Barbarossa

This article was sent out nationwide via the AP (Associated Press).

The

online source of the paste job is here:

It's

the

Twin Cities (Minnesota) Pioneer Press. When I went back to the site to
retrieve this url they made me register to re-enter the site. You may

have

to do the same thing.

An interesting development tho: Government officials are now saying

there's

no justification for Senator Dayton to close his office.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/10/12/politics/main648878.shtml

Excerpt:

CBS News Correspondent Bob Orr reports that federal officials said they

knew

of no new, specific intelligence information that would have prompted

Dayton

to close his office.

U.S. officials say they "know of no specific intelligence that al Qaeda

is

targeting Capitol Hill, Washington or any U.S. site, reports Orr. And

there

is no information that any attack is imminent.

Last week they were sharing info with education departments and schools

across

the country because of the high profile case in Russia. They denied

they

had

any reason to do so other than the Russian school making such a splash

in

the

news. Within 2 days, there was another story about how we'd found lists

of US

schools with locations, diagrams, etc, in Iraq. Kind of belies their

excuse for

the shared info, IMHO.

Yikes, hadn't heard about that, thanks. In Iraq no less. How convenient.

The last I heard, it was an Iraqi responsible for rebuilding the school
system there. They were looking at plans of US schools as a model to work
with. Whether or not this is true is another story ...

This from the Washington Times this morning:
http://www.washtimes.com/national/20041013-121643-5028r.htm
Fears of an attack on American schools also were raised by the recent
discovery in Iraq of a computer disk containing data showing the layout of
six schools in the United States, including districts in California,
Florida, Georgia, Michigan, New Jersey and Oregon.
Officials believed the disk may have been part of a terrorist plot.
However, FBI officials said on Friday that there did not appear to be a
terrorist threat connected to the computer disk.
The Iraqi who had the disk, a member of Saddam Hussein's Ba'ath Party,
apparently was collecting information from the Internet sites of American
schools that would be useful for emergency planning for Iraqi schools, U.S.
officials said.
Lots of "confusing" signals out there.
