After which, there will be a reversal of the pendulum so great if this becomes
true that it will open up the country to terrorism.
But despite what i saw on some stations, and heard read at the Washington
journal, from everything I can read about it tonight, it appears that the new
patriot act will not be applied to anything else than terrorism.
If so, they will rule. It is a war. But if they do use those tremendous powers,
and the momentum brought about by the war on terrorism, to focus on pure
trivialities, as I have seen done by Ashcroft months ago, then they will lose
not only momentum.
And I said a few days ago that they wanted as much powers for terrorism as they
already had for other matters, certainly not the other way around. Since I can't
find what I heard, the Washington Post speaks about it today in much nicer
terms, and announce that Ashcroft will be going around the country to explain
it, maybe what happened is that there was confusion that because powers applied
to other matters would be given to the act, some understood that it was the
other way around? But I am sure to have heard on two different occasion both
yesterday I think, that the extraordinary powers allocated to address terrorism
would be expanded to other major crimes unrelated to terrorism. I can't find it
today.
Anyway, if they do that, or not, either way, they will get what they deserve. I
just hope they are deserving. Otherwise, it will become a joke like you people
make it to be without just reasons. If you people get to have just reasons to be
paranoid, the world will sink into chaos.
