Object: Record meteorite hit Norway
As Wednesday morning dawned, northern Norway was hit with an impact
comparable to the atomic bomb used on Hiroshima.

A picture of what they think is the place of impact. It is a remote part of
the northern Norway. Several people living in that county both saw it and
heard it. They have midnight sun there in the summer, so if it had been in
the winter there would probably be more pictures of it on its way down. It
may have exploded right before it hit the mountain and many trees fell.
The energy of the impact can't be like a nuclear bomb as some astrophysics
first told it could, but the total energy absorbed in the atmosphere may of
course be very high. If it had hit a town, I think there would have been
several casualties, but luckily it hit that remote part of the country.
People living miles away could both hear the explosion and feel the
shockwave. An earthquake measuring center did measure that too.
I have seen pictures and movies of meteorites hitting Australia and USA
earlier, but they must have been much smaller than this as one of them hit a
car, and the car wasn't totally wrecked afterwards.

Noone knows excactly where it hit, so it hasn't been found.

No casualties ?!?!?

Unknown(?)... Most of (northern) Norway is devoid of human beings...

Didn't have much impact in the Western news media......

FYI: Norway IS a 'Western' country (some ppl refer to it as a satellite
state to the USoA), so at least *some* of 'Western news media' got the
news...

Maybe our 1337 forces managed to fend off the alien invaders and the
"meteorite" story was a cover-up. There was a documentary about a similar
incident in Antarctica several seasons ago.
:-D
On a more serious note, I would certainly be interested in photos of the
crash site and the meteorite remains, as well as a report on its mineral
content. There should be enough of a crater that it could be spotted from
the air.

There was *no* mention of this event *ANYWHERE* in the Australian
newsmedia,
& probably scant mention of it in the North American media (excluding
websites, of-course).....
I'm talking about general media -- newspapers, radio, TV, etc.....not
internet.
Maybe in Scandinavia it was mentioned, but elsewhere, unless one pays
particular
attention to news on the internet, there was no mention of it on the
general newsmedia...
Perhaps U r right, Woods, perhaps they are trying to cover it up....
But iz definately **not** UFO's !!!
If a meteorite of that scale were to have hit a major city right in the
center, eg Denver or
Chicago, there would have been numerous casualties....
