If future DNA manipulation is farfetched consider that:
The only difference between any matter is the number of
electrons/protons in it:
An Atom of steel versus an Atom of gold.
Presently it is still impractical to perfectly remove
protons/electrons without long periods of dangerous radiation
emission.
But DNA reconstruction is only needed at the molecule level (atom
substitution) instead of at the atomic level (electron/proton
substitution)
