Revelation 17:8 The beast that you saw WAS, and is
NOT, and is to ascend from the bottomless pit and go to perdition; and
the dwellers ..will marvel to behold the beast; because it WAS and is
NOT and is to COME
A beast (empire) that ascends for a BOTTOMLESS pit as a definition is
an empire that was "thought" to have PERISHED FOREVER and is also the
portion that says: "WAS, and is NOT"...
The portion that says: "is to COME" means to suddenly resurect which
is also the same meaning as the statement "to ascend(return) from the
bottomless pit (eternal oblivion/death)"
Two possible past Empires thought to have forever perished are: ROME
or the Mongol Empire...
