Found this post in another newsgroup, found it wrily amusing that the
Mr Mischief in question was an ageing rat.. appears he was rather
better loved than "our" Mr Mischief! Good sig too..

-- I need some advice from some fellow Rat Lovers. My old boy
Mischief is
now 2yrs 4 mths old now. His walking hasn't been the greatest for a
while
but he has always been able to climb one ladder to get to the top
level.
Sadly I noticed yesterday that he no longer walks on his hind legs.
He
seems to drag his whole rear end behind him. He isnt even walking or
dragging himself to his toilet either, he just goes to the loo just
outside
his igloo..It is very sad and distressing for me as you all can
appreciate.
Mischief has had Myco as long as I have known him, It has never
responded
to any form of medication.... He is old... But dammit he is adorable,
the
only one who loves a cuddle...
My question really is..."Is it time to let him move on?"
Realistically if
I ask my Vet he will say well we can try this or this or this and on
and on
and on.... Sadly my Vet sees $$$$ when he sees me coming. He will
never
ever come out and say outright that the time has come to let a pet go
with
dignity. What should I do..?
Mischief still eats and drinks even though he doesn't do either to a
great
extent. He looks a fat squishy Rat but sadly when you lift him up he
is no
weight at all really... My heart is breaking over this... Someone
please
give me their honest opinion..
Kind regards Kate
Today I may meet with injustice, ignorance, denial, all of which are
due
entirely to the other,s lack of knowledge of good and evil and the
difference thereof.
