looking into Sen. Ted Stevens' role in the ongoing investigation into
the remodeling of his Alaska home, according to two law enforcement
officials familiar with the probe."

Stevens (R-Naturally) had remodeling work done in 2000 which doubled
the size of his house, and at least one of the three contracters who
worked there has testified before a federal grand jury about the
project as part of an ongoing bribery and corruption case involving an
oil-field service company and several Alaska state legislators - one
of whom happens to be Stevens' son.
But let's not jump to conclusions.
The senator was probably just trying to get Internet access and needed
all that extra space for the tubes.

in charge of the internet. He created a HUGE uproar with the speach
he made about what the internet is.

Of course you'd post this while ignoring today's indictment of
Democratic Congressman William Jefferson, who had hidden $90,000 cash
in his freezer.
You could have also mentioned the problems Senate Democratic Leader
Harry Reid is having, concerning some questionable land deals in his
home state. You could have also mentioned Democratic Congressman Jim
McDermott, who has been ordered to pay $700,000 to another member of
Congress for having leaked (to reporters) the contents of an illegally
taped telephone call.
Or you could have mentioned California Democratic Senator Dianne
Feinstein, who is under investigation for possibly having directed
more than $1 billion in government money to companies controlled by
her husband. Yes, you could have mentioned those other names, but you
didn't.

While most of the corruption going on is by Republicans, there is a fairly
notable case of a Democrat (Jefferson, I believe) who has allegedly been
so corrupt as to border on near sanity, IMHO. He even used Senate
letterhead paper to propose some of his shady dealings!
But let's not jump to conclusions.
