Retreating Glaciers Worrying Greenlanders
By JAN M. OLSEN, Associated Press Writer Sat Sep 10, 3:26 PM ET
ILULISSAT, Greenland - The gargantuan chunks of ice breaking off the
Sermeq
Kujalleq glacier and thundering into an Arctic fjord make a
spectacular
sight. But to Greenlanders it is also deeply worrisome.
The frequency and size of the icefalls are a powerful reminder that
the
frozen sheet covering the world's largest island is thinning - a
glaring
sign of global warming, scientists say.
I totally reject the global warming as man's fault mantra that the
liberals chant, but if for a minute they are correct, what can we do
to
change things and how long would it take? If you can't answer that
then
it
isn't a science, it's just politics.
Err.. we can't , for example, stop the sun from one day swelling up to
become a red giant and swallowing the earth... does that mean that
everything we know about star formation and lifespan is in fact
political
and not scientific?
Red Herring. Nobody has ever suggested that the sun will turn into a
red giant BECAUSE of something man has done. That is what the global
warming fanatics are saying.
...and the evidence appears to bear that out. Let's face it, it's a widely
accepted idea in mainstream science, not "fanatical".
Please try to pay attention.
It wasn't at all clear from your writing.
If we have to power to cause something,
then we should have the power to stop it from happening.
Nonsense. We have the power to e.g. cause nuclear chain reactions, we can't
stop 'em once they've started though.
So tell us specifically, what do we need to do and how long will it
take
to stop global warming?
If I knew that, I'd have a shot at the Nobel prize. Obviously, man needs to
cut down on CO2 and otheremissions - the best way to achieve that woudl
probably be to stop all burning of fossil fuels.
And how will we know when to stop so that we don't
flip the climate into global cooling?
LOL! Why on earth do you think that would happen?
