Vietnam war, and then spoke out against the war when they returned home,
aren't war heros. The True war heros, are those who spoke in favour of the
Vietnam war, and joined the National Guard to avoid service, or got
deferment, after deferment, until the draft was ended.

Yeah - they were large versions of those wooden salad bowls with the matching
fork and spoon to toss the salad. Never did 'get" people putting those on their

been, desk workers, seem to attract honours in direct proportion to
rank, rather than to bravery.
The black military leaders of Africa are famed for this. They seem to
award themselves rather a lot of nice shiny honours. But then, the
coloured races have always been partial to ostentatious displays of
precious metals.

There very well could have been some medal inflation during Nam, but I see no
reason to blame the recipients, or filter out one in particular.( We all know
that Nam was a very different experience from WWII, so even if they didn't get
as severe a physical wound, they went through plenty in other ways)

Oops, we are not 'at one'. It is their fault. I would simply decline.
Ostentatious 'one-upmanship' taking the form of row after row of chest
insignia is really beneath contempt.
I prefer the quiet hero to the showy pretender.
I fancy most people do.
In any war, everyone suffers. It may well be that Vietnam soldiers
endured a difficult time. But that is, after all, their occupation. It
wasn't the occupation of the women and children mistakenly incinerated
in remote villages though.
I just feel that the image of Vietnam in modern America, has more to
do with Holywood than reality.
As I say, I hate to admit it, but maybe Dreamwalker has a point.
