Rocket Hits U.S. Base at Kirkuk Airport
KIRKUK, Iraq (AP) - A rocket struck a U.S. base in Kirkuk, touching off a fire
at an ammunition dump that triggered massive explosions and forced the
evacuation of a detention center, the U.S. military said Thursday. No one was
hurt.
The attack occurred about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at an airport base in this
northern oil-producing center, said Maj. Neal E. O'Brien of the 1st Infantry
Division.
