He's pro-life (anti-abortion rights), pro-gun ownership rights; he
voted no on a bill that would have given stockholders the right to
vote on corporate executive compensation; voted no on a bill that
would have raised automobile fuel economy standards; supported the
Minuteman Project on the Mexican border; voted no on a bill to raise
the minimum wage; favors Bush's tax cuts; and wants to abolish all
federal welfare. What a guy, eh?

All politicians look ridiculous, including Ron Paul. If the public can
stop putting their faith in these inveterate manipulators and posers,
they'll begin to put their trust in the people who deserve it --
themselves.
The dividing line between an entertainer and a politician is a very thin,

A LOT?? That's horseshit. We have very little in common. He follows
leaders, into war, into insanity...I've always been cautious about all of
'em, questioning their statements and especially their motives. He
supports the status quo. I rail against it. He's militarisitic. I'm not.
He's subservient to tradition. I'm not. Etc., etc.
If you knew local leaders like I have, and gone to school with some of
'em, partied with 'em, and so forth, you'd know they're bullshitters,
egotists, manipulative assholes, and some are just stupid dreamers.
If you really understood the typical personality type that likes to lead
others, you'd be wary of 'em. (Leaders Stevie adores would likely exploit
his naivete and dreaminess, and basically use him as ***** wipe.)
But, when you have fables like Washington and the cherry tree, or 'honest
Abe,' or the 'Great Communicator', ad nauseam, that people WANT to
believe in, it's hard to seperate fact from all the fiction. If you've got
a 'shining knight' of 'Camelot' glorified beyond the reality of a
power-hungry personality seeking great power, egotistical fulfillment, and
fame in history, or a self-deluded man currently in the Oval Office who
said he thought one day he'd be selected by God to lead the nation in time
of crisis, you should be very, very careful about who you're putting your
trust in. Is it faith in illusions, either manufactured or accidental? How
much are these leaders hiding of the negative side of their behaviour? You
can bet they're hiding something, but how serious is it?
That is why I say they are much like celebrities -- who project a
favorable image, while being careful, usually, in not letting people see
their sordid side. Like movies stars, sports heroes, etc., it's the
popular image they cultivate mainly to their personal advantage. I've know
plenty of entertainers, too, and most are psychotic, have personality
problems galore, and are assinine in their relationships.
Jean Guernon ran twice for high office in Canada. While he's an extremist,
he's still the type of personality that gravitates toward positions of
authority. It doesn't matter whether they're 'moderate,' 'conservative, or
'liberal', a person who seeks power is aiming to fulfill their idealistic
dreams and/or revel in power over others.

You prove my point. Every person is different, and have different
motives. Not all who run for political office are power
hungry, or dreamers, or whatever. Like Stevie, you made up your mind
about someone you know nothing about. Facts mean little to you...
and like Stevie, with his pathetically weak, lazy intellect, you make
broad statements and label all with the same broad strokes.

follow corporate-bankrolled glitzy bullshitters a little deeper into
Hell
after each election orgy.
It's all a big egotistical, phony, delusional show, eric, engineered
to
look like you're gonna' gain something, or at least a little part of
your
greatest dreams will come to fruition with them attaining high
office.
They're dream-purveyors, fantasy pimps for the utopian starried eyed
out
there.
They put on their stage act for all the other fantasists and actors
who
support them, adore them, fight useless wars for their gain at the
top,
and folks who like to get just a bit of historical glory by rubbing
buns
with 'em.
You wanna be like Stevie -- that self-deluded fascistic
pseudo-christian
four-eyed librarian hypocrite and liar, then, by all means, continue
to
follow the leader. Any leader.
You wanna see Bush offed, do ya? Cozy up to another sociopathis or
psycho
leader, get rolled by his/her lies and manipulations, and then
you'll
be
here again wanting to see another leader croak...it could be Paul,
it
could be Clinton...but it'll surely be another to make you a bit
more
disillusioned.
Let Stevie-bot make his bed alone. Don't share the covers, refuse to
tuck
the lil' ***** in.
Doc
Doc...actually, u and Stevie have alot in common. You're both rather
dogmatic and rigid in your views, regardless of facts.
A LOT?? That's horseshit. We have very little in common. He follows
leaders, into war, into insanity...I've always been cautious about all
of
'em, questioning their statements and especially their motives. He
supports the status quo. I rail against it. He's militarisitic. I'm
not.
He's subservient to tradition. I'm not. Etc., etc.
If you knew local leaders like I have, and gone to school with some of
'em, partied with 'em, and so forth, you'd know they're bullshitters,
egotists, manipulative assholes, and some are just stupid dreamers.
If you really understood the typical personality type that likes to
lead
others, you'd be wary of 'em. (Leaders Stevie adores would likely
exploit
his naivete and dreaminess, and basically use him as ***** wipe.)
But, when you have fables like Washington and the cherry tree, or
'honest
Abe,' or the 'Great Communicator', ad nauseam, that people WANT to
believe in, it's hard to seperate fact from all the fiction. If you've
got
a 'shining knight' of 'Camelot' glorified beyond the reality of a
power-hungry personality seeking great power, egotistical fulfillment,
and
fame in history, or a self-deluded man currently in the Oval Office who
said he thought one day he'd be selected by God to lead the nation in
time
of crisis, you should be very, very careful about who you're putting
your
trust in. Is it faith in illusions, either manufactured or accidental?
How
much are these leaders hiding of the negative side of their behaviour?
You
can bet they're hiding something, but how serious is it?
That is why I say they are much like celebrities -- who project a
favorable image, while being careful, usually, in not letting people
see
their sordid side. Like movies stars, sports heroes, etc., it's the
popular image they cultivate mainly to their personal advantage. I've
know
plenty of entertainers, too, and most are psychotic, have personality
problems galore, and are assinine in their relationships.
Jean Guernon ran twice for high office in Canada. While he's an
extremist,
he's still the type of personality that gravitates toward positions of
authority. It doesn't matter whether they're 'moderate,' 'conservative,
or
'liberal', a person who seeks power is aiming to fulfill their
idealistic
dreams and/or revel in power over others.
Doc
You prove my point. Every person is different, and have different
motives. Not all who run for political office are power
hungry, or dreamers, or whatever. Like Stevie, you made up your mind
about someone you know nothing about. Facts mean little to you...
and like Stevie, with his pathetically weak, lazy intellect, you make
broad statements and label all with the same broad strokes.
Well, since darkhorse Ron Paul has about as much chance to become
President as I have, I think it's a moot issue. Suffice to say, ALL those
who aspire to leadership have personalities that greatly differ from those
who follow them. By the very nature of seeking power, whether benovolent
or malevolent in intent, they need to be egotistical, extraordinarily
aggressive, compliant with their financial backers, create an aura of
cosmological insight into the daily human pathos, gain trust by
well-proved psychological ploys, and so forth. You and I wouldn't ever be
leaders of anything more than a Cub Scout pack, if even that
insignificant. And partly for the reason many of us don't have the drive
to be leaders, or their unusual obsession to control or influence others,
we tend to admire and acquiesce to those who do. We think of them as
'something special' (that is, the ones we support), and they're actually
the embodiment, partially or otherwise, of the dreams, fantasies, idealism
that we entertain. A clever or instinctual leader knows that truth, and
can easily exploit it.
I've seen a lot of leaders come and go, Eric, and their once avid
supporters following, believing, defending, even sacrificing. Yet, in
their brief wake, we still go to the mirror and see the same fault-ridden
creature reflected back to us, and go out into the daily grind facing the
same kind of humanity, and all its persistent attendant serious foibles.
Dreams are nice, leaders are the purveyors or even creators of them, but
ultimately we have to change ourselves, each and every once of us, and
change ourselves quite lot --taking much effort and courage and
commitment -- to truly make even a small part of our best dreams come to
realization.
Leaders' promises seem like a pretty easy shortcut to what we desire but,
more often than not, they lead to a disillusioned constituency that
variously turns in frustration inward again for answers, or starts
imagining they'll be floating up into heaven to meet a deity.
Yes, I can paint all leaders with pretty much the same broad strokes, as
you say, because their personalities are so similiar to each other. If you
had known more of them outside their public image, you'd know exactly what
I'm talking about. Seeing them on TV or on a stage isn't seeing the real
man or woman that goes home to their quiet room...and begins to work again
on another angle to gain popularity or hold onto what they've already
gained.
Doc :))~
