Listening to the match on the beeb as I can't see the feed...only for
the UK apparantly. 3-0 to the Brits right now after five mins :-)
Serious historical event having the English play at Croker. They even
played the English national anthem.
Time for everyone to forget the past and concentrate on the future
methinks...(me being an old Irish republican)...boo now 3-3 :-)

CHRIS!
I've just opened the computer, the match finished 10 minutes ago, and
I'm still in a state of shock and disbelief.
Hell but that's odd. Your first messages were when I was thinking
about you and this game. That's particularly true before the kick-off
and the seething stadium of green...allowing with dignity the Natinal
Anthem.
I never thought I would see that happen. Rugby crosses all boundaries
doesn't it. The ideal game to bridge that awful gap and unite the
people in enjoying the play.
From an ex player (I played a lot, as well as cricket) I have to admit
that I have never seen Ireland play so well. They out-classed even the
most talented English players and deserved to win by tenacity and,
most of all, playig 'as a team'.
O'Driscoll was magnificent. Everyone fears and respects England's
Wilkinson..but O'Driscoll wrote his name clearly on Rugby history
today.
Bloody hell Chris. The Irish played like a pack of tigers. The English
performance was pretty good, but the result wasn't English bad
play...It was Irish brilliance.
Credit where credit is due...a wonderful display of attacking rugby.
No...there will be no crowd trouble. Rugby Polices itself in that way,
it's above such things. That sort of after-match trouble lies in the
realm of the 'nancy boys' who play football, and their 'supporters'.
Regardless of the result, Englishman will be drinking with Irishman
tonight.
What a game.

I fuckin' hope so Wolfy...I sure hope so. I'm ***** that it never
occurred to me to go to the Irish pub in the centre of town here,
G=F6teborg. Otherwise I would have been still in Malm=F6 where I would
definately have been in the pub watching it...my local is less than
ten metres from my gaff there :-) Had to come home this weekend though
'cos I have an important meeting on monday here...plan was to stay in
Malm=F6 this weekend but after checking my calender that was fucked up.
I didn't actually see the game. I had to just listen to it on the beeb
because both the beeb and RTE, despite that they were sending it on
the net, said that you had to be in either Blighty or Ireland to see
it...which is a pain in the rear end.
I'm sure I'll get to see it post anyway :-)
My biggest fear though is trouble tonight. As I said in my first post
I am an old "republican" who you would prolly love to get your hands
on, but I think, and really hope, that all that ***** is over...and
during the last 15 to 20 years we have not had anything happen. You
might well be one of those wankers who arrested me in Dover in 1986/7
or so and pissed me off for a whole week in Dover police station...you
never know :-)
I do know missguided Irishmen who would kill an Englishman just
because he is an Englishman, I have also got into serious problems in
England with missguided Englishmen who really wanted to kill me just
because I'm Irish, It goes both ways. I've had my head kicked in but
survived on more than one occasion.
Anyway 43-13 hehehehehe
Oh, and that the English national anthem went without a hitch in the
bastion of Irish republicanism...I'm proud of!
