RUSSIA CONCERNED OVER FREQUENT PREDICTIONS OF STRIKES AGAINST IRAN...Tuesday, February 27, 2007 |

Russia concerned over frequent predictions of strikes against Iran
Tuesday , February 27, 2007
Russian is concerned with reports that have become quite frequent on a
possibility of military strikes against energy facilities in Iran, in
particular, its nuclear objects. Russia=E2=80=99s Minister of Foreign Affai=
rs
Sergey Lavrov announced at a meeting of President Vladimir Putin with
the cabinet. From its side, as the minister said, Moscow will do its
utmost to settle the Iranian nuclear problem in the political way.
Meanwhile, Lavrov says the Iranian leadership has given no
satisfactory answers to IAEA questions concerning Iranian nuclear
activity, at the same time, various forecasts in the media increased
concerning a possibility of the USA striking Iran. =E2=80=9CIn particular, =
the
US president allowed such a possibility in his recent statements,=E2=80=9D
Lavrov said. =E2=80=9CWe shall do our utmost to reach negotiable decisions,=
=E2=80=9D
he is quoted by RTR as saying.
Earlier, US Vice President ***** Cheney, while being on a visit in
Australia, announced at a news conference that he did not exclude a
possibility of striking Iran because of its refusal to fulfill demands
of the UN Security Council resolution, in particular, to halt uranium
enrichment. At that Cheney noted that =E2=80=9Cit could have been a gross
mistake to let a country like Iran become a nuclear power.=E2=80=9D He also
said that Iran should not be allowed ignoring opinion of the
international community.

Yeah. Right.
If this is true, Russia is being controlled by
morons.
If we did go to war with Iran, Russia's wealth
and power instantly doubles.
Russia is the single largest source for natural
gas, while Iran is #2. Take Iran's vast reserves
off the market and the money starts rolling into
Russia. They become their own mini-OPEC.

Then I propose that Russia attacks Iran later this afternoon. If it
would be so 'good' for them, why don't they do it, instead of the US?
Perhaps Russian Leaders have more respect for people, than do American
Leaders?

You use logic like a blind man uses binoculars.
And your grasp of current events is spurious as your
knowledge of history.
Russia's standing military is too big for it's GDP,
retard. Put another way: They can't afford it. If
they invaded Iran that cost would explode -- as a
standing military uses a great deal less ammunition,
fuel & spare parts than one knee deep in a fight.
Heck, just feeding them costs shitloads more, as you
have to deal with supply lines.
Of course, if you weren't so eager to say something
bad about the United States, and pulled your head
out of your *****, you might have figured all this out
on your own.

A simple question...given that your explanation is so wise.
Why does Russia not back an invasion then? Why do they oppose the use
of US Force in Iran?
Incidently, is it really...I mean really, really, necessary to answer
with such liberal use of expletives? They do little to enhance your
position.

Russia is on record saying that the U.S. shouldn't
pull out of Iraq just yet.
Not that any of it matters. As I've stated in another
thread -- ignore what they say, concentrate on what
they do.
Everyone is holding their cards close to their chest.
Personally, I don't believe it's about Iran at all.

Is that an attempt at English? I mean, '...you can't do subtle'. If it
it, I am left trying to guess your meaning.
As regards your 'hint', The UN, Veto's etc has nothing to do wth it.
You are not reading the question again. Certainly, as usual, you are
not answering it.

Yeah, the U.N. has nothing to do with U.N. sanctions.

Your idea of 'an answer' is to ask a different question. You compound
your side-tracking with the use of expletives, jibes and insults.

No, honey, I pointed out your fallacy. You have no
idea what Russia supports & doesn't support, and
you're concentrating on the least accurate indicator
of their position.
You asked what is called a "Leading Question."
I know you can't grasp this, but that's why I'm
always laughing at you, sock puppet.
You didn't like me coming back at, contradicting

Notice JTEM keeps recommending that his opponents seek professional
psychiatric help, but hasn't yet explained why he's apparently never
sought medical help for treatment of his serious mental illnesses over a
period of at least 15 years of harassing, confusional, and embittered
usenet interaction.
It puzzles me.

No, I don't think so. It's possible that they would much rather the U.S.
remain in the crosshairs of militant islam than have Russia get the
crosshairs trained on them for a while.
But, I disagree with the claim that Russia's wealth/power would double.
They are extremely rich in natural resources, but don't have the personnel
or infrastructure to exploit them. And, that's not even taking
into consideration the massive corruption that permeates their
entire culture, from government to business. They're a mess.

Russia is already the #1 producer & exporter of
natural gas.
Why on earth you think they wouldn't benefit from
a sudden spike in price is beyond me....
