Saddam loyalists hire Arabs to fight U.S.
Hundreds of foreign nationals captured in Fallujah
Loyalists to ousted Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein have hired thousands of Arab
nationals to fight the U.S.-led coalition in Iraq, reports Geostrategy-Direct,
the global intelligence information service.
Officials said hundreds of foreign nationals have been captured in Fallujah
during the past week. They said the fighters were from Afghanistan, Iran,
Jordan, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Syria.
"We have captured about 400 armed men [in Fallujah]," Prime Minister Iyad Alawi
said this week. "Some of them are from Iraq and some of them are from abroad."
Officials said most of the insurgents arrived in Iran and Syria for recruitment
and training and then crossed the border into Iraq.
"It really doesn't matter from which group they are," said Thaer Hasen Naqib, a
spokesman for Alawi. "They are foreigners. They are not invited to come to
Iraq. We want to get rid of them as soon as possible."
On Nov. 14, the U.S. military said Fallujah had been captured and the
insurgency command shattered. The military said between 1,000 and 1,200 enemy
combatants had been killed and another 1,000 captured.
"The enemy right now is broken into very small groups," said Gen. John Sattler,
commander of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force. "They don't have the means to
communicate, so they're isolated into small pockets."
Fallujah is believed to be the nerve center for the al-Qaida-based Sunni
insurgency.
Iranians flocked to Fallujah over the last few months, attracted by salaries
offered by Saddam Hussein loyalists.
Arab foreign nationals have the lowest status in the insurgency campaign
against the U.S.-led coalition, officials said. Saddam loyalists have been
executing foreign fighters who sought to flee Fallujah or refuse to serve as
suicide bombers. U.S. troops have found the bodies of 20 executed Arab foreign
nationals in Fallujah thus far.
Still, Arab foreign nationals appear to comprise a major element in the
remaining resistance in Fallujah. Scores of foreign fighters along with Iraqis
had been deployed in southwest Fallujah bracing for a final stand.
Officials said many of the foreign fighters had been prepared to become human
bombs in an attempt to repel the U.S.-led force.
Baghdad has urged neighboring countries to increase border security to halt the
flow of insurgents into Iraq.
"We explained to the Arabic leaders the situation in Baghdad and the situation
of the insurgents that have been destroying our country," Naqib said.
"And we got full support from Jordan, from Kuwait, from Saudi Arabia, from
Egypt. And we are working with them very closely to close up this mess in
Iraq."

And this is significant in what way pantyboy?
The yanks are using ex SAS, IRA, UDA, former yugoslavian soldiers
among others to do lots of the dirty work in Iraq so so what if the
freedom fighters get volunteers from the surrounding countries?
There were thousands of foreign fighters in the war to oust gen.
Franco from Spain. People who volunteered to take up the fight along
with their brothers in Spain to rid her of the vicious dictator.
Actually, even the Israeli's during the wars they started with their
neighbours had foreign fighters in their ranks. The Afghans and the
Soviets.
So what's the significance of foreigners fighting alonside the Iraqi's
to rid Iraq of a vicious attacker and occupier. None...it is
insignificant!
