Sorry to spam, but I have only so many ways to reach prospective readers,
and I sincerely believe that the subject will be of interest to members of
this group.
My new book, Science and Spirit, is now available. You can find out more at

Like many here, I'm certain, I've been blessed with a vision of the fabric
of reality that is quite different from the limited cross-section revealed
by our five mundane senses. In my case, these visions were strongly
influenced by my educational background in physics. Naturally, I was a big
fan of The Dancing Wu Li Masters, and The Tao of Physics, however, it
always struck me that these books were trying to elucidate the mind-bending
implications of physics using the equally abstruse concepts of Eastern
mysticism. In Science and Spirit, I take the opposite approach. You see, it
occurred to me that most educated people today have at least a passing
familiarity with the implications of science. We know, for example (to our
great sorrow) that atom bombs work, and hence, that Einstein's Special
Theory of Relativity is essentially accurate. We know that our computers
work, and (whether we realize it or not) this implies that crucial tenets of
Quantum Mechanics are also 'real'. In a nutshell, we don't really need help
believing in science. On the contrary, the undeniable evidence of science
often makes belief in the spiritual or paranormal difficult to sustain.
Hence, my purpose in writing Science and Spirit was to provide an APODICTIC
series of argument that demonstrate that belief in science not only
supports, but actually DEMANDS acceptance of spiritual and mystical
phenomena. (The word apodictic comes from the field of formal logic. It
refers to an assertion that is incontrovertibly or demonstrably true as a
result of having been deduced systematically, in a stepwise manner, from
incontestable foundational principles, in such a way that denying it leads
to a contradiction.)
Faith is indisputably a cornerstone of all mystical, spiritual, and
paranormal practice. Did not Jesus say: "he that beleiveth in me, the works
that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do" (Luke
14:12). The critical element for utilizing this vast reservoir of untapped
potential is belief. When Jesus cured the sick, fed the multitudes, or
raised the dead, there was no doubt in his mind that he would succeed. The
purpose of this book, therefore, is to remove the formidable barrier to
belief represented by doubt. Once we see that science proves the existence
of this power, we will be able to utilize it without reservation.
Don't worry - I shall not continue hyping my book here,
although, of necessity, my posts and replies will undoubtedly contain
elements from the book, since it pretty much sums up all that I believe. It
is also a book that I was commanded to write, but that's a story for another
day ;^)

This sounds like an excellent book. Some similar, interesting books that I
read on Metaphysics and Spirituality are:
- "Infinity and the Mind", Rudy Rucker
http://pup.princeton.edu/titles/5656.html
I really like Rudy Rucker,
he writes some interesting books.
- "Goodel, Escher, Bach", Douglas R. Hofstadter's
http://www.forum2.org/tal/books/geb.html
- "The Mind's I", Douglass Hostatder
http://www.frontlist.com/detail/0465030912
They present the subject of spirituality and the soul from a more logical
and mathematical angle.
