Common Dreams has the Frank Rich article and Hersh's latest New
Yorker piece on Iran can be found here. It's rather lengthy but
certainly worth the read. In it, he documents how our current
Middle East policy ends up empowering Sunni extremists (al Qaeda)
through covert and Congressionally unsanctioned methods. I have
to say that after reading it I'm infinitely more informed, but
equally as confused. Nevertheless, there is simply no more
revered, respected and credible investigative journalist in
America than Seymour Hersh; he's right on nearly everything and
we should take his warnings about the Bush administration's
true intentions towards Iran very seriously.

Very cool, Randy. Very interesting.
Some spectacular insights come in nutshells of a few words. "Ideologues",
"assumption", "ignoring" and then "distress".
I love this excerpt:
Before the invasion of Iraq, in 2003, Administration officials, influenced
by neoconservative ideologues, assumed that a Shiite government there could
provide a pro-American balance to Sunni extremists, since Iraq's Shiite
majority had been oppressed under Saddam Hussein. They ignored warnings from
the intelligence community about the ties between Iraqi Shiite leaders and
Iran, where some had lived in exile for years. Now, to the distress of the
White House, Iran has forged a close relationship with the Shiite-dominated
government of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki.
Incompetent people trying to shape the world to fit their own agenda and
blowing it. Mostly blowing it for us cattle. Trying to shape reality and
sell us a bill of goods.
The net effect of this is why we should find even the kindergarten level
propagandists on usenet so repulsive.

Why would Steven want to dig it up when the big boys can make it up and then
pass the propaganda down to all the little boys?

No, I'll let Hersh wallow in his own *****. Even Ted Kennedy agrees
with me. And please pass this along to the cowardly Lemke.
