FDA Investigating Reports Linking Chantix to Suicidal Thoughts
Wednesday, November 21, 2007
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is looking into reports that the
anti-smoking drug Chantix may trigger mood swings and thoughts of suicide in
patients taking it.
Information provided to the agency by Chantix manufacturer, Pfizer Inc.
cited "erratic behavior" in an individual who had used Chantix. The agency
is also investigating the death of the person who used the drug, but was
also under the influence of alcohol.
The FDA has asked Pfizer for any additional information it has on reports of
adverse reactions in people taking the drug. Its Center for Drug Evaluation
and Research is analyzing the data and plans to release its findings to the
public once the analysis is completed.
In the meantime, the agency recommends that health care providers monitor
patients taking Chantix. Patients taking Chantix should contact their
doctors if they experience behavior or mood changes, the FDA said.
The FDA also advises that patients taking Chantix use caution when driving
or operating machinery due to reports of drowsiness.

I'm certainly not a Chemist, but I fancy everyone using it has those
tendencies. Perhaps they should consider that it is the lack of a
cigarette,, not the addition of the medicine, that provokes mood
change etc.

You're not much of anything, really. If you were, do you
think you'd be on usenet constantly redefining "Lame"
the way you do?
Oh. That was a rhetorical question.

Oh. That was a rhetorical question.
You are just such the one to talk, aren't you? You talk about Ricky
online "constantly redefining lame"? Well, JTEM, even if that were
true - I have to wonder which is worse...doing that or going to web
sites that talk about gay men that will "***** and ***** on you"
and looking at photos of big fat (extremely ugly) gay men in black
pantyhose, holding a ***** like YOU do! LOL!
And which is worse...being online "redefining lame" or being online
acting out one of your alter-egos (in your case that would be
"danisnewlover") and going after people you don't like on a newsgroup,
not as yourself - no...because as yourself, you couldn't take the
heat. So you talk to those people you dislike, and try to "get" those
people you dislike under a guise. Very pathetic and weak. You've
barely ever said a word to me yourself...oh but "danisnewlover" had
plenty to say to me now didn't he?
A lesson, son - don't attempt to shine a light on someone if you
aren't prepared to have that light shown directly back on you.

Dani, you shouldn't call Johnny 'son' -- he'll think you're his long-lost
mother who orphaned him, placed him on a fast-food drive up window, and sped
away never to be seen again. heeheehee...
Hope you're feeling better...and please check out my new page. I think about
you every day.
Doc :))~

I thought that was a standard part quitting smoking. ;-)
