Imagining Bush pulling out is too hard to swallow. He has
fucked Iraq for so long now that I never thought he'd
have the decency to pull out. I figured he'd be too selfish as usual
and blow it.

What is even worse, IMO, is the inaction in Congress to impeach him, and
remove his cabinet, speedily end the Iraq War, and set a new course before
he gets us into another hairy-***** conflict, or a natural disaster hits and
they bungle it (again).

You know doc, they're pretty well entrenched. Once cronyism starts
into play, you have a vice-presidence who would pardon Bush if Bush
were impeached, and it appears Cheney is the chief instigator behind
this whole Iraq fiasco anyway so who would want Cheney as the President ?
Our only hope would be to get them both at once on grounds so solid
that their only option would be resignation.. then I believe Nancy
Pelosi would take over.. Speaker of the House. This is the direction
Congress is going. They're just going on fishing expeditions with
their hearings since they're just bound to turn up dirt. An impeachment
would require enough republican congressmen get onboard, and that will
happen if enough Bush corruption is turned up.

This conflict has already lasted longer than most wars we had
in the 20th century (vietnam lasted longer and you know how valuable
our time there was).
Bush is definitely another Napoleon Bonaparte figure. If you've
ever studied Napoleon.. he thought war was a way of life and
all his military invasions were for the good of his own country.
In the end he was arrested and locked up on Elba Island by his
own country-men. I'm not even sure they had a specific legal
charge against him.. probably just 'hater of mankind', you know,
misanthrope. All the way to his final jail Napoleon swore he'd
done it all for the benefit of his country (extreme nationalism).
Napoleon's entire career was about military conquest. Bush even
has that 'small guy' image that Napoleon had.. they called
Napoleon the 'little general'.

With one small exception - Napolean actually saw battle during his wars,
and was on the battlefield with his men. Bush & Co. stay back in their
cushy winter and summer homes and expect the lower class to do all the
fighting for them.
