It's my growing stable of comic characters, Jane. Ever see comedians
play several different personas, talking amongst themselves? Well, sure
you have. The famous ol' classic stand-up (and later, radio, film, and
TV star), Red Skelton, would commonly play as many as four different
characters, all alternately yapping to each other. It's harder to pull
off without the visuals or audio, but I try.
He seems to need a lot of attention.

Uh...Jane...what entertainer, amateur or pro, isn't a "ham" and likes a
lot of attention? Geez...that's one of the most common personality
traits of comedians, especially. I've been fishing for laughs since I
was 5 years old. Call it a mental illness, if you must, but I know many
entertainers -- actors, musicians, cartoonists, stand-ups, etc. --
almost all can't get enough attention. They want an audience,
Jane...without it, there's no reciprocal "pay off." Many thousands of
comedians play to small select audiences, and only a tiny percentage
ever become "successful" beyond that parameter.
If that's "failure," then most entertainers have "failed" careers. LOL!
I traveled the stand-up circuit within my state, did stand-up at
nightclubs, "open mike" contests, outdoor festivals, etc., and I had
some good responses and some poor ones -- in other words, I fitted into
the "middle standard" for comedians. I hit some, I misfired on some. It
isn't easy to keep going after an audience doesn't respond well.
Audiences are simply prone to moodiness and other
environmental/personal factors (such as too many audience members can
be too lit up on booze or drugs to 'get it'!) as are entertainers, too.
Timing is a major key to presenting a visual/audio presentation. Few
comedians can be precisely "on target" every time they're on stage. We
have our bad days, as the audience sometimes does -- they're not in the
"mood." When both aren't clicking, it's a disaster. Any comedian will
tell you that is a sad fact. The two variables make for an
unpredictable evening on stage!

I'm young at heart. I don't think that physical age necessarily
precludes reaching back into one's more youthful past for enjoyment.
Lots of folks do it. It feels good, damnit. There's not much that feels

traditional resignation, or the "status quo" for behavior amongst the
aged.

anything irrational about it, anymore than other people here attack
each other for a variety of "rational" or "irrational" reasons. Since
you've been recently out of this group again, reportedly fed up and

reason you "left" was rational or irrational? And what the hell does it
matter? Humans are a mixture of both in their nature. Jimmy doesn't
sound all that rational to me -- telling me he thinks I should overdose

as I've drawn the line between poking (fictional) fun at your
daughter's supposed promiscuity and the pain it causes in real-life.
That's why I didn't include anything about her suicide attempts or
out-of-wedlock child. You want to redefine that line to suit your
purposes here, and castigate me (repeatedly) for crossing it. I think,
partly, you're using this forum for a cathartic outlet for your
feelings of guilt. But, I guess the outraged squirrels here, including
you, have to have a 'nut' to chew on. If isn't me, it's someone else.

I've read Janes summary above, and would say the Doc.v myself business
began when he wrote long articles under the guise of humour, concerning
my 19 year old daughter, her having a child outside of marriage, and
her very serious attempts at suicide.
Prior to that, I found some of his posts amusing. I did ask him to
retract and to apologise, pointing out the 'poor taste' of his posts.
Instead he started to write many posts attempting to justify his
indelicate nature by describing it as 'comedy'.
It's not a subject I find amusing. I'm pleased to say that the rest of
this forum is supportive, and do not sink to the levels of mockery in a
matter as sensitive as is this one.

for fictional pieces to a certain part of their audience who were
offended, then we need to begin to trot down the long twisty road to
censorship. Anyone with half a brain knows my pieces are fictional, and
meant to entertain. Because they sometimes involve group members here,
as subjects for my sarcastic humor (and sometimes involve national
figures or celebs, too), is no reason to take them literally, or
personally. I recently had John Lemke do a song parody lambasting me. I
liked it and thought it was fairly funny and creative, as I told him.
The ability to laugh at ourselves is essential to good mental health,
ain't it? How many posters in this group -- not using humor of any kind
nor intending to use it -- have attacked others' behavior and
personalities? Lots! Viciously, callously, childishly, directly...no
allusion to any form of fictional entertainment or any semblance to
intentional humor -- just hot or cold-blooded personal assaults, and,
often, repeatedly for a long period.

repeatedly display here -- the revealing of your family's private
problems in a forum well known for its kooks? There's nothing sensible
about a parent who has a number of Usenet enemies, and loves to be
provocative and controversial (i.e., the guillotine, his 'Witches Walk'
house, his daughter's sexual misadventures, explosive bodily/death
threats on APN, obsessions about young girls' fatness and uncouthness,
ad nauseam), and continues to be seemingly outraged when one or two
posters show "inappropriate" behavior towards him!!! My, oh my, no one
should be making a joke, slanderous remark, etc. towards that "mature"
parent! If you are upset for months on end about such responses, as you
interpret them, then why don't you simply stop spewing this intimate
personal crap out here? If you and Dani, for example, want to have a
heart-to-heart sympathy session, why not use the privacy of e-mail or
the telephone? That way, you'll not have to endure a sling or arrow
here from anyone, and not have to go on and on and on about it when you
do.
Seems the reasonable, rational course for a concerned parent to take...

SATAN), is that he kept posting (without replying to the CR*P he was
posting).
Its like he was a "Man On A Mission", but he didn't 'fully' know
what the MISSION was !!!
- SATAN, the "Terror Cells" in Canada and the U. K. have been
"Dis-Mantled" (unless you know of other ones in Australia and The
United States), June 06, 2006 will just be another day [ just like

I don't know who pissed on your Count Chocula, but it wasn't Satan! If
you'll carefully analyze the nature of his flurry of 666 posts, you may
discern that Satan is laughing the whole thing off as a form of
hysteria, a joke, commercial enterprise, myth, or superstition.
This is simply a religiously-driven myth that's been around for
centuries. Since this date won't come around again until 3006 (or maybe
a twisting of the numbers for 2066, 2666). I'm sure Satan is just
noting the unusual sociological/psychological significance of it.
Everyone alive today will be bone dust by then!!
Sometimes, there isn't enough time to get a bevy of posts up on Google
and have time left over for replies to posters' replies. Satan does
have other things to tend to since Hell is heating up fast.
Relax! Be patient, and I'm sure someone will reply to some of your
