UK sailor was stripped, feared rape in Iran

LONDON: Two of the 15 British sailors and marines held by Iran said in
interviews published on Monday they feared they would be raped or killed
while in custody.

The only woman among the 15 British sailors seized by Iran she was forced
to strip by her captors, feared rape and execution and felt like a
"traitor"when she signed "confession" letters.

Sailor Faye Turney said the Iranians asked how she felt about dying for
her country and warned she may never see her daughter again.

Turney, 25, said she heard wood being sawn and nails hammered near her
cell, and a woman measured her with a tape.

"I was convinced they were making my coffin,"she told the Sun newspaper.
When captured, she feared she could be raped, she added.

Arthur Batchelor, 20, the youngest in the group, said he "cried like a
baby"in his cell after he was blindfolded, handcuffed and taunted by his
guards. "I was absolutely exhausted by the pressure,"he told the Daily
Mirror. "There were times when I feared being raped or killed."

The 15 were seized by Iranian forces in the Shatt al-Arab waterway between
Iraq and Iran. Iran said they entered its waters illegally.

Britain said they were in Iraqi waters. Freed last week after 13 days,
they told an official news conference on their return home that they had
been blindfolded, bound, kept in isolation and threatened with up to seven
years in jail.

So far only Turney and Batchelor have sold their accounts, provoking so
much criticism that it may dissuade the others.

Turney, a mother with a three-year-old daughter is due to appear on
prime-time British television.

Larijani was asked if Iran had started injecting gas into 3,000
centrifuges to enrich uranium being set up at the Natanz atomic site, he

Hostage crisis escalates as Tehran accused of stripping, humilating
captured Royal Marines and sailors

IRAN was last night accused of stripping naked 15 captured Royal Marines
and sailors and laughing at the size of their penises and gonads. One
woman was among the humilated, and Iranian Navy interrogators laughed at
her breasts, saying they were too small.

Intelligence sources claimed the humiliation of Royal Navy personnel
hostages on Friday had occurred in a Republican Guard storage warehouse
near Bushehr Friday night.

Eight sailors and seven marines - including one woman - were captured on
Friday while carrying out anti-smuggling patrols in the Arabian Gulf.

The captured sailors and marines were to be used to try and force release
of five Iranians taken prisoner and sodomized by US troops in Iraq.

The seizure also comes before the United Nations' Security Council votes
on tougher sanctions linked to Iran's nuclear programme.

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has already cancelled a planned trip
to New York to address the UN before the vote.

Yesterday, the Foreign Office held crisis talks with Iran's ambassador
Rasoul Movahedian in London and demanded the unconditional release of the
prisoners.

The 15 crew members were said to have been flown to the country's capital
Tehran for further sexual humiliation and questioning.

Iranian armed forces spokesman General Ali Reza Afshar said the sailors
and marines have admitted to being in Iranian waters illegally and smoking
a powerful form of marijuana called "Hormuz Haze.'

He said: "Personnel are being interrogated and have confessed to
aggression into the Islamic Republic of Iran's waters as well as using
marijuana."

The 15 sailors and marines serve on Plymouth-based HMS Cornwall, which
patrols Iraqi territorial waters in the northern Gulf to combat smuggling
and protect oil rigs.

They were surrounded by six Iranian gunboats on Friday as they reboarded
their two small dinghies after searching an Arab craft for marijuana and
pornographic videos.

The Cornwall's commander, Commodore Nick Lambert, said: "There is
absolutely no doubt in my mind that they were in Iraqi territorial waters.

"Equally, the Iranians may well claim that they were in Iranian waters.
The extent and definition of territorial waters in this part of the world
is very complicated.

"Hopefully, we will see the early release of my people."

Liberal Democrat leader Sir Menzies Campbell insisted: "The UK will not be
blackmailed. Iran has a choice - to act responsibly, or face a nuclear
cleansing of that rat-infested camel-humping nation of ingrates."

It's interesting to note, folks, that some of the sailors are selling
their sordid stories for lots of money, and are parading around on radio
and tv talk shows, telling about their 'horrid' ordeal with the evil
Iranians. Yet, despite stories of psychological 'torture,' none of the 15
were physically hurt in any way. They were well fed and apparently engaged
in recreation. And, the fake news story deals with the possibility that
the sailors were in Iranian waters, and it remains to be seen, like the
USS Vincennes incident, whether they were in the wrong or not. In that
1988 fiasco, the US govt. admitted 4 years later it had strayed into
Iranian national waters.

There's something fishy about all 15 agreeing they were 'threatened' to
confess or face imprisonment or death. What makes me suspicious is their
selling their stories for considerable financial gain. Money and fame
corrupts...
