For some reason, I am a bit uneasy about the launch time being exactly
what it was for Columbia's ill-fated last trip. And, being a bit
superstitious, I was a little concerned about the initial launch date
being the 13th--knowing that the 13th Apollo mission went awry--and then
seeing a fuel sensor problem pop up to cancel it. I had a "funny feeling"
about that date, thinking that it might go wrong. Then, after it was
cancelled, I heard it might not be until September. Something kept nagging
at me that it shouldn't be launched until that time--not now.
And I'm a bit concerned, too, that there seems to be some unexplained rush
to get this thing off this month rather than wait until September. I had a
weird dream months ago that I was talking to a business associate on the
phone who suddenly said, "My God, Discovery has just exploded." I said
something like, "You mean Columbia? It's exploded long ago." (I felt
confused as hell.) "No, you idiot, Discovery just blew up like Columbia
did."
Another strange thing: I sent an email shortly after the Columbia disaster
to a close friend, and I had mistakenly used the name Discovery instead of
Columbia. My friend corrected me, saying, "I know you meant Columbia." I
had used the wrong name at least three times in the message.
Finally, the live video of the 7-member crew getting prepped for launch
gave me this eerie feeling that they were ill-fated.
It's probably just the jitters. I may be losing my mind. I've been in this
NG for a long time. LOL...

Launch looked good to me. Didn't see any gaping holes in the wings at ETSEP.
We got lucky. Space flight is dangerous. It will always be dangerous. There's
a list of over a thousand things that, if they go bad, will destroy the
vehicle right then, and that's as safe as we can build them right now. Rocket
Science isn't easy, or cheap, and sometimes it's damn expensive.

I'm gonna' kick EZE's little *****. There's really nothing going on other
than very minor damage to one tile. They may find some more, but no one
seems concerned in the news or at NASA. They're going to check it out
today.
However, like you said, space flight is complicated. The more complex,
generally, the more risk something could go wrong.
They said a cam caught a bird getting hit...LOL...
I wonder if it fell into Sue's backyard...Sue? Did you see a bird fall
from the sky dead? Kinda' bloodied, burnt, missing a lot of feathers...?

Uh - NOPE!
The only thing I spotted unusual out back yesterday was a couple of
amorous lizards.

If it is or it isn't, it's too bad that you didn't predict it.
