Hi,
My how I miss the early days of apn. Before s0110g, before the angry
canadians and the star-blinded patriots, back when the seekers reigned.
I learned things then.
Now every year or so, I stop by and see what's up.
This place is truly a snapshot of hell. The regular cast, arguing with
the same people, saying the same things year in and year out. It's like
a fever dream, where you want to wake up but even when you do, you're
still stuck in it. Insanity, an asylum, but one where the denizens
readily show up to work each day and assume their roles.
Except I don't see Peter. God bless you Pete, wherever you are. I didn't
always agree with you, but you kept it light.
And Greg Marcus, I always wondered what happened to him. Did he ascend
to his self-appointed position? Is he right now fighting the devil
single-handed?
Where is I-Oannes? And Duke?
I bought a motorcycle, and I returned to riding after an absence of 20
years. One is much closer to eternity on the back of the snarling beast
then while sitting in front of a computah screen.
I met people. Many who strangely enough are well aware of what time it
is, and where this world is soon heading. Funny though, but even when we
disagree, we don't insult each other. Maybe this comes from having to
look eachother in the eye. I wonder sometimes how usenet brings out the
worst in people. You only see the written word, not the person behind
it. The anonymity of it strips away our humanity, and we devolve into
beasts cursing each other in the dark. Eye contact keeps us real.
I've seen so many things here, but there is one thing I've never seen.
And that is someone changing anothers' opinion. We are what we are,
mostly, and we will remain what we are until the music stops.
So then, my 2 cents,
mb (mikeebee)

Sums it up well. Coming here is like visiting an old girlfriend who's got a bad case of gas. It's
like old times for awhile but soon it's time to go.
