I'm sure everyone has seen the many stories about Bush's national
guard involvement. You may have noticed that many of these contain
different details. A few contradictory, but many dissimilar. There
have also been a few quite different from the others, showering praise
on Bush for his service.
You may have also heard that the other day the press corps pretty much
jumped the White House press droid, refused to be cowed, and demanded
answers to some tough questions. They haven't acted like this for,
well, this is the first time in this administration.
WTF?
It's a badly executed psyops job.
Bush's real records got leaked. To cover it up, since they couldn't
recall them, they released other details through other media outlets,
essentially throwing doubt on any one collection of them. Most of the
fakes are close enough to the truth that they might as well be, and do
contain some negative stuff. But the point is not to make the negative
stuff go away. It's to make enough different people believe enough
different stories that the issue becomes which one is the real one.
The futzy "Bush was a great pilot" articles are part of it. They're
too obviously not to be believed. But by not believing them one is
forced into believing one (or more) of the others, taking sides in a
fight orchestrated towards keeping people fighting rather than
researching.
Before, the Bushies just blustered through, obviously lying and not
caring who knew. This time they fucked up and made it obvious they
care. This was their major ***** up. They're looking NEEDY and
DESPARATE. The armor has cracked.
They got in too much of a hurry for damage control and didn't put
together a concerted front and a good cover job. The work shows, as it
did before, but this time it shows cracks. Since they've depended on
such a solid front before, I don't think they can recover from this.
My money says that some unnamed limitary or ex-military droid on the
White House staff is going to get canned, and that the WH press
secretary is going to resign sometime soon to make it look like the
problem left with him, when it didn't even start with him.
By now, some writers are trying to reconcile the different stories and
are ending up just making a worse mixture by picking and choosing.
They should have isolated the different versions like the CDC on a bug
hunt, and tracked down the fact that there were different "patient
zeros", proving the tail was wagging the dog just way too hard this
time.
If they don't clean house, the same droid staff is going to do
something like push Kerry's involvement in anti-war activities during
Nam. If they do, chances are good that Kerry will reply "You;re damn
right I did because I believed what was going on was wrong, AND I WAS
RIGHT as history has proven" and that will freaking sink Bush.
And I suspect it's not a failing of their psyops staff. It's most
likely that the adminimonsters are pushing the staff for results
faster than they can create them with any skill and finesse. They're
trying to play the same game with a complex device that they've played
with the usually monumentally lethergic and monolithic "will" of the
sheeple.
I'm heartened to know I could have done better despite the fact most
of my psyops training was on my own, outside the military.
I am eternally grateful for Unit 0 for reminding me of the part of the
military oath which says "from all enemies, foreign AND DOMESTIC".
I mean, ***** the sheeple. They get what they deserve. But I demand
better. I demand STYLE.
