Swift Boat Vet Got $40M
Contract From Bush
Misleader.org

The Bush White House has denied any connection to the Swift Boat
Veterans for Truth [1] - the group that has been airing factually
unsupportable smear ads against Sen. John Kerry's war record. But a new
report today shows that one of the key accusers in the smear ads was a
lobbyist for a company that recently received a massive federal contract
from the Bush administration.
As the Washington Post reports, Rear Admiral William L. Schachte
Jr., the man who claims Kerry was not under fire when he received his
first Purple Heart, is a top lobbyist for a defense contractor that
recently won a $40 million grant from the Bush administration. According
to a March 18 legal filing by Schachte's firm, Blank Rome, Schachte was
one of the lobbyists working for FastShip's effort to secure federal
contracts [2]
On Feb. 2, FastShip announced the Bush administration had awarded
it $40 million [3]Schachte has other connections to the Bush
administration. The Washington Post notes David Norcross, Schachte's
colleague in the Washington office of Blank Rome, is chairman of this
week's Republican convention in New York. [4] Records show that Schachte
gave $1,000 to Bush's 2000 and 2004 campaigns. [5]
Additionally, Schachte helped organize veterans' efforts against
Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) and for Bush in the 2000 South Carolina
primary.[6]
This is not the first member of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth
who has been revealed to be connected to the President. The Bush-Cheney
campaign's top outside lawyer was forced to resign after he admitted
providing legal services to the veterans group.[7] The Bush-Cheney
campaign's veterans adviser was also featured in one of the smear ads.[8]

Swift Boat Vet Got $40M
Contract From Bush
Misleader.org
9-1-4
The Bush White House has denied any connection to the Swift Boat
Veterans for Truth [1] - the group that has been airing factually
unsupportable smear ads against Sen. John Kerry's war record. But a new
report today shows that one of the key accusers in the smear ads was a
lobbyist for a company that recently received a massive federal contract
from the Bush administration.
Oh, he was a lobbyist for a *company* that received a massive federal
contract. That headline above is very misleading. It implies the $40M
contract went directly to the Swift Boat Vet. No wonder it's called
misleader.org.
As the Washington Post reports, Rear Admiral William L. Schachte
Jr., the man who claims Kerry was not under fire when he received his
first Purple Heart, is a top lobbyist for a defense contractor that
recently won a $40 million grant from the Bush administration.
The man was Kerry's commander on the scene AT THE TIME of the
incident, and he did not think a Purple Heart was warranted AT THE
TIME of the incident. Kerry later went around his commander and put in
for the Purple Heart on his own. To say any of this has anything to do
with federal contracts is a diversionary tactic.
According to a March 18 legal filing by Schachte's firm, Blank Rome,
Schacte was one of the lobbyists working for FastShip's effort to
secure federal contracts [2]
He was "one of the lobbyists" -- it is uncommon for a former Rear
Admiral to be a lobbyist.
The fact the man made a decision (AT THE TIME of the incident) that it
was not worthy of the Purple Heart is irrelevant?
Additionally, Schachte helped organize veterans' efforts against
Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) and for Bush in the 2000 South Carolina
primary.[6]
Also interesting to note that Sen. McCain recently asked the Kerry
campaign to stop using him (and the topic mentioned) in a Kerry
campaign commercial, and they complied.
This is not the first member of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth
who has been revealed to be connected to the President. The Bush-Cheney
campaign's top outside lawyer was forced to resign after he admitted
providing legal services to the veterans group.[7]
(1) The outside lawyer was not "forced" to resign. He resigned when
leftists and the press (or is it the leftist press) decided he
represented a connection from the Swift Boat Vets to the Bush
campaign.
(2) It is not illegal, nor unethical, for a lawyer to represent more
than one client at a time. It WOULD be illegal and unethical if a
lawyer shared information with one client that concerned another
client's business.
(3) The Kerry campaign employs outside lawyers who also work for
leftist 527 groups. It is not illegal, nor is it unethical.
The Bush-Cheney campaign's veterans adviser was also featured in one
of the smear ads.[8]
That veterans adviser was an unpaid volunteer to the campaign. When
questions were raisesd, he immediately resigned from his unpaid
volunteer post. Meanwhile, Kerry's former campaign manager is the CEO
of a 527 group running anti-Bush ads. There are all kinds of
connections from the Kerry campaign to several LARGE 527 groups. I
just haven't seen the leftist press investigating those connections
like they swiftly went after the tiny little 527 called Swift Boat
Veterans for Truth.

Yes bunk, you are good at misleading.... Except if any of his total lies
as usual had any hint of truth, it would be in the real news.

I have no connection with misleader.org. There is no soft money funding
involved at my secret direction. I deny any association with their staff.
None of my friends are associated with them in any way. Well, recently,
one of my staff resigned, but it was not because of the legal advice they
got. However, I will not denounce their story specifically or the people
promoting it, but I do denounce soft money-funded (527) personal attacks.
Sound familiar??? Your Bushboon is a strange little critter. Lies and
hypocrisy, secrecy and scheming, idiocy and psychosis are Bush's constant
companions.
