Taiwan: Premier Unhappy With New Law
November 28, 2003 1250 GMT
Taiwan Premier Chen Shui-bain says he may try to repeal a law that
allows referendums on independence passed by the Taiwanese parliament
Nov. 27. Chen wants a stronger bill that would allow the government to
call an independence vote directly. Under the new law the government
can only call such a vote if China attacks Taiwan.
