Object: Tenet Tosses The Towel In ....
Seems Iraq's lack of WMD's and now Mr. Chalabi's apparent intelligence
leaks ( or misinformation supplied through Iran ) has caused George Tenet to
finally pack it in. Oh well ... another one bites the dust.
My bet is the FBI's head will roll next.

I thought that Chalabi was the darling of the Pentagon, and the Intelligence
community didn't trust him. Perhaps Tenet is the fall guy for both the Iraq
debacle and the publicizing of the Chalabi affair (as opposed to the leak of
info to Chalabi).

My bet is the FBI's head will roll next.

I'm thinking that they usually go as low as they can for the fall guy, and Tenet
is pretty high up there. Doesn't anyone else recall the CIA complaining about
Cheney making daily visits to the CIA to put pressure on them to deliver reports
on Iraq that Bush wanted to hear?

Richard Clarke defended Tenet in his book ( Against All Enemies ) and said
Tenet had warned the Admin that the U.S. was going to be hit big during the
summer of 2001. Bush was on holidays most of the time ....
The CIA never liked Chalabi ... but he was a darling of the Admin. Now
they're suspecting that Iran was in cahoots with Chalabi and used him to
provoke the war with Iraq ( this is almost comical since by all appearances
Bush didn't need much provocation to go into Iraq ).

Yeah ... it's in some of the reports on Tenet's resignation. There were
comments made by a previous CIA director stating this was unusual and put
pressure on the agency to produce some convincing evidence.
Tenet said he resigned for personal reasons, but those reasons may have been
simply the accumulated frustrations of dealing with an Admin that's
populated with idiots and fanatics.

Tenet was never a spook, he was only apolitical hack.
