Strangely, the site had come up fine, everything else was in place but
the picture wasn't there....just the message.
I just tried it again now and it works for me too.
Incredible! I am fine with viewing it from afar, though.

Nothing will compare to seeing Mt. St. Helens spewings of May1980. Great
sunsets, too! :-)

(I tried sending this earlier today)

Not sure if you recall what was going
on at the time, but they were trying to
get people the heck out of there - they
knew it was going to be a Big One. I
recall reading about one person who'd
gone in there and barely escaped with
their lives when it blew - they were
going 80 mph down the back roads,
passed someone who'd left a bit
sooner and was doing around 70, and
didn't make it out.
I was 16 at the time and sorry to say I don't recall anything about that
event. We are monitoring it 24/7 now in this wonderful age of cable so
my kids will certainly remember this one. I just saw a shot of cars
evacuating. That must be scary!
Film showed towns hundreds of miles
away in the middle of day being so
dark that they needed lights. So much
dust that they couldn't keep their cars
running (air filters kept getting
clogged).
That can't be good for the lungs either. :(
I wonder what this one will bring.

No, I saw the "film at 11" stuff. I did personally witness some pretty
spectacular sunrises and sunsets, though. As fascinating as volanoes are to me,
if the geologists are expecting a mountain to blow up, I'm pefectly happy to
remain 3000 miles away. (I don't think they were expecting quite what happened,
but everyone who died was in the evacuation area, so they at least called the
danger zone correctly).
