Ahmadinejad to spread new Islamic Revolution
Iran's newly elected President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad hailed his victory as a
new Islamic revolution which he said would spread across the entire world.
"Thanks to the blood of the martyrs, a new Islamic revolution has arisen and
the Islamic revolution of 1384 (the current Iranian year) will, if God
wills, cut off the roots of injustice in the world," the IRNA news agency
quoted Ahmadinejad as saying.
"The era of oppression, hegemonic regimes, tyranny and injustice has reached
its end," he said, in an apparent reference to the United States.
"The wave of the Islamic revolution will soon reach the entire world",
"In one night, the martyrs strode down a path of 100 years," he added.
Ahmadinejad was speaking to the families of over 70 victims, including
several lawmakers, killed in a 1981 attack at the headquarters of the
post-revolutionary Islamic Republic Party.
His latest comments are similar to those made after the 1979 Islamic
revolution, when the country's leaders frequently pledged to spread the
Islamic revolution beyond Iran.
Ahmadinejad has repeatedly praised the "purity" of those early days.
Last week, Ahmadinejad won Iran's presidential run-off against former
president Akbar Hashemi Rafsnajani.
In his first public statement after his election, Ahmadinejad vowed to
create a "modern, advanced and Islamic" role model for the world.
"Our big mission today is to build up an exemplary, developed, powerful,
Islamic society in Iran," he said.
According to analysts, Ahmadinejad's latest comments would ring alarm bells
in the European Union already worried about his stance in future talks on
Iran's nuclear program.

Ahmadinejad says he will spread Islam by example. He wants to make Iran a
model for other countries to follow. If I like that? Yes I think it is a
good project. Anytime you can convince others of something by EXAMPLE,
you're on the right track. If you have to use force to do it, then no matter
what it is, be it Democracy or Freedom or whatever you claim your ends are,
if you are using force, then you are not on the right track.

different matter than spreading ideals. Use of force to propogate ideals is

Hmm... Iranians I've met in real life have all been nice, polite and
actually a bit noble. Good people. But they had all left Iran. That's
not a good sign. Of course you love your old homeland, Stat, but as I
see it right now, things can only get worse.
