current events. In fact, current events, especially the failure of the King

referring to. This cannot be done before the fact, as his texts
are much too obscure. Given that 1999 is now past, we now know
what Nostradamus is referring to.

1. The first two lines refer (very vaguely) to the total eclipse
of the Sun of August 11, 1999.

2. The third line also refers very vaguely to the fact that --
through the wedding of the Duke of Angoulême on July 10, 1999,
the name of King François 1er (who was from Angoulême) came back
into the public eye.

3. The fourth line refers back to the first two lines (before and
after what? The eclipse), and suggests, obscurely as ever, that
there shall be a war before the eclipse and that there shall be a
war after the eclipse.
