Object: The Carlyle Group (or, How the West Was Won)
If the Carlyle Group had been around in 1888, here's exactly how
they would have operated:
1. Put a bunch of ex-Civil War generals on the payroll
2. Hire ex-War Deparment policy makers to the Board of Directors
3. Get some fat cat investors to throw a lot of money into the kitty
4. Buy up a nearly bankrupt rifle factory, buy up the patent on the
Gatling Gun, and buy about 10,000 gallons of whiskey at deep discount
3. Pay shady characters to go out West to give the whiskey and rifles
to said renegade Indians
4. Provoke the renegade Indians
5. Renegade Indians, of course, attack someone
6. The compliant Press, blows the attack way out of proportion,
sensationalizes with stories of White Wimmin Being Raped by Filthy
Heathen Savages.
7. The (ignorant, naive) public cries out "vengeance, vengeance"
8. George Custer (on the Board of Directors of the Carlyle Group)
heads out West, to attack some Indian tribe that had nothing to do
with the renegades, who were 1,000 miles away, but the Indian tribe
he's going to attack is peaceful, and won't put up much of a fight,
guaranteeing an easy "victory".
9. The public, their blood lust sated, dance in the streets
10. George Custer is later set up, and tricked into riding into a
suicide mission, so that he can't talk about the conspiracy, and
his death further enboldens the Press to demand more Indian blood,
11. Carlyle profits soar
.
