There seems to be a slight contradiction here:
Tom Ridge just announced that there currently exists a terror
threat greater than at any time since 9-11, and would involve
an attack at least as great, if not bigger than the one that
occurred on 9-11.
Yet, he specifically says to "go about your business as usual,
we'll protect you."
Well, they didn't protect anyone on 9-11. In fact the people
at the told told their FBI field officers, ringing the alarms bells
about a whole bunch of Al Qaeda people suddenly completing
"flying lessons" all over the US. And then what did the
people who should have listened do? They threw the
reports into filing cabinets and told their agents in Phoenix
and Minneapolis to shut the hell up, or else.
These are the same people who got PROMOTED (not
the field agents, whose careers were crushed for going
public). The top ranking people who told the field agents
to shut up, and then deep sixed the reports, are the ones
who got promoted into high-level positions in the so-called
department of "Homeland Security."
Think about that, as you go about your business these
Holidays "as usual". Either Tom Ridge is full of ***** (well,
he is actually), and lieing to us, or they are intentionally
risking your lives to make sure you go out and spend as
money as possible to make the economy look good
for Bush's re-election. Which one is it?
Think about that, when the germ spores are blowing through your town,
while the President is reading some friggin Goat Story to a primary
school class in Jerkwater, USA.
Someone, please, stop the insanity.

< Someone, please, stop the insanity.
Why would they do that when they can keep people afraid. Fearful people
will swallow anything released by the PROPAGANDA MINISTERUM so they will
willingly a gratefully surrender ever more freedom in the name of security.
Just like the frog in a kettle of water very slowly being heated doesn't
notice the change in temperature until it time to dine on frog's legs.

The public would accept nothing less than the appearance
the gov't is doing something about the terrorism threat.

Operant word is "appearance." Must be getting close to next budgeting
cycle for the Department of Homeland Insanity.
They must think every damn person in the U.S., except for themselves,
is a complete bloody idiot.
