I thought it was the Taliban who'd quashed the opium trade in Afghanistan.
After the USA invaded Afghanistan, it SHOT to #1 in the world in
heroin exports. That has to be blamed on Bush.
I'd blame that on Bush, but not for invading Afghanistan in the first place.
Rather, for abandoning it to attack Iraq.

You cannot be serious. Okay, let us assume that the Taliban effectively
stopped the production of Heroin. Does that mean there were not other
countries around to fill the gap? No it does not. This drug war is like
trying to stop leaks in a dam with your fingers.

It's not true anyway. The market for Afghanistan's heroin is almost exclusively
Europe and western Asia.
