They say that when you're alone with him and off the record he's very
bright, very articulate. I've seen that when they've done informal
fluff pieces, he seems pretty normal.
But there's pressure when you have to speak publicly, officially on
"weighty" matters.
It'll be interesting to see if the fumbling gets worse as things
continue to come undone and the pressure increases.

Something isn't right with him. Did you notice the size of those bags
under his eyes? Not the kind of bags/circles you get with sleep
deprivation, they were big and fat (and only one puffy set). Sleep
deprived bags are generally smaller and come in layers.

I would hope that if he has fallen off the wagon that someone would
intervene. We don't need broad denial at the highest levels of the
nation. The people enabling a drunk are just as sick as the drunk and
sooner or later everyone pays. What would that mean in the nation's
highest office? Don't think it would happen.
So if someone "spots" it, I hope they don't let it slide. We had
enough denial in the run up to the war. :-)

Well, bags under the eyes (in addition to the fact that he's a dry
alcoholic) could most certainly indicate that he's picked up again.
Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic. Alcoholism is actually a
disease and there is no cure. Either one is an active alcoholic, or
they're a dry alcoholic. Dry alcoholics can't even take a *sip*
of alcohol to toast someone at his/her wedding. They can't casually
have a beer with a buddy. They have to completely abstain. If they
don't abstain, and think: "Ah, one beer won't do anything!" they are
very wrong.. and shortly thereafter they are drinking on a daily basis
and the alcohol has once again taken over their life.
Bush is a dry alcoholic.
Or it could be something completely different that is causing the
bags. But the suspicion that he's drinking again should definitely be
put high on the list of possible reasons for the bags.

Regional semantics as opposed to clinical definitions perhaps. The
term "dry drunk" can be used for someone who isn't drinking but also
isn't dealing with the underlying issues of the disease. Folks can be
ornery, angry or in any other way as dysfunctional as they were when
they were drinking. A lot of alcoholic behaviour gets passed along to
the next generation this way.

Just a quirk of mine. Hate to see people squirm. Could never stand
watching Mike Wallace make people squirm on 60 minutes. Can't stand
watching the NBC "To Catch a Predator" program even tho those slime
need to be made examples of and left swinging from a tree somewhere.
Good to have it air, I can't watch it.
George Bush has made an historic blunder. This will resonate thruout
what remaining history we have. He'll be shamed forever and as many
as a million or more people will end up dead or scarred because of it.
He was never qualified for the job.
He's deserves to receive a lot more trouble than he'll get and I
understand why people have no sympathy for him. I'm just a little
different in that regard, I guess.

Lurking is about the same as not posting anything meaningful.
I always get the feeling stevie is lying. He's here to promote
an agenda, but he refuses to interact in a real, meaningful way.
This is why he appears so robotic. You're just an object to him.
He doesn't regard you as a human, social animal.
Feel free to have compassion for him if you wish, but I'm through
with that. I've already wasted enough time with that. I might
taunt him here and there just for fun, but I won't put any more
effort into convincing him of something he is determined not to
believe.
I've tried, and because of that stevie knows why I hurl abuse
in his direction. I don't like getting lied to, and that's all
stevie does is lie.

Whenever I hear that Stevie might be getting trounced by liberals too
heavily, I think back on the halcyon days of neocons, right wing
evangelicals, and Republicans having a virtual field day with liberals,
blowing the ***** and urine all over us, laughing in our faces, and calling
down Jesus regularly to spank our 'immoral' asses collectively -- and I
always want to remember that mean-spirited hatchet job on Kerry in 2004.
We've been through some of the ugliest political/social times humans could
suffer through that rival the rise of fascism in Europe in the 20s. There
were so many of these neocon maggots chewing on the flesh of liberals in
this forum for several years, and feeling great they had the majority
backing their fearless leader and his glorious war, that they simply went
ape-***** on us liberals, gleefully, in mobs, and constantly. Now, the tide
has turned. And if I feel Stevie wasn't a participating ape-***** in it, I'd
be forgetting his cozying up to anyone in this group that smelled like a

The difference between then and now is that the non-neocons at the time
were showing some (fore)thought about the consequences of Bush's policies.
The current crop of fascists still clinging to Bush's (failed) policies
have seen the result of Bush's policies, and still support them, anyway,
regardless of how much it hurts America, Americans, or anyone else.

True...but Americans knew that when they elected him the first time.
They thought things were so good, the class clown could run the
country. Well the joke's on the idiots who voted for him. Even now,
Americans are too cowardly to impeach him. They have the government

True...but Americans knew that when they elected him the first time.
They thought things were so good, the class clown could run the
country. Well the joke's on the idiots who voted for him. Even now,
Americans are too cowardly to impeach him. They have the government
they deserve.
Not ALL of us, eric. I did not vote for Bush; I can not STAND the
man, and I want no part of any of this. But, unfortunately I am
caught in the middle because I'm an American citizen.
All I ask is when you write posts such as this one above, remember the
Americans like John, Randy, Woods, Doc and myself who are vehemently
opposed to the *****. And the ones who voted for him? YES, utter
idiots. They should have their heads examined. And if *you* can't
stand the idiots who voted for him, just imagine my predicament. I'm
left suffering because of THEIR decision!

Painful but informative to watch ... he looks like he's running the
country 'on the fly' without any real plan or even a clue.
Good luck.

Yeah, that's right, and, furthermore, Eric, while I agree with you that it
is basically cowardice that keeps our Congress from going after him tooth
and nail (like for the non-usage of the review court for wiretap
authorization), it is also simple complacency in the populace stemming
from a fat-cow, feel-good, fantasy-filled, narcissistic economy. Strip the
money and goodies away, and I'd bet Americans would be heating up and
stirring the tar pots, and readying the feathers!
Congress has enough to start impeachment, and many of us old timers know
they want to use the anti-conservative turn-over to their political
advantage in the elections ahead. We've seen both sides exploit popular
public sentiments to their personal and collective advantages. So, what
else is new?
I look at all the joke-making and bitching about Bush-Cheney, and wonder
when it will finally don on most Americans that this 'entertainment' and
anger binge we're on is simply playing into the psychopaths' hands at the
top.

He looks like crap, and can't keep focused. I'm thinking the rumors of
him drinking again are probably true.
I don't know why CNN bothered to show this - it's painfully obvious that
the audience was hand picked and likely fed questions to ask (which
apparently is how Bush runs these things). It's not news, it's a
commercial.
I did find it somewhat amusing, in a revolting kind of way, that he's
referring to the Iraq war as the "Global War On Terror", which is
definitely is NOT.
Can't wait until January 2009!!
