You will probably consider the following text, the ravings of a fool.
However, a fool can speak his mind and get away with it. So here is my
view on the problems of this region.
The Jewish point of view can be found here:
http://www.eretzyisroel.org/~jkatz/meaning.html
The Palestinian point of view can be found here;
http://www.palestine-net.com/
My point of view is this. The British ceded a part of the land
inhabited by Palestinians and Jews, to the Jews and formed the Nation
of Israel. The premise for this was to find a home for displaced Jews
after the atrocities inflicted upon them by the Nazis. The Jews claim
that the land of Israel was given to them by God through their
forefather Abraham and later reaffirmed through King David. The
scripture says that it was given to their "seed" Since no one on this
planet can prove their lineage back to either David or Abraham this
argument holds no water. Also, since Islam claims its lineage back to
Abraham, you could legitimately have two claimants for the land.
Also the argument has no precedent. I could equally claim that
Stonehenge was given to the Druids by their Gods and as I have Druid
descent that land now rightly belongs to my Family. Alternatively
anyone who is a Druid has a God given right to inhabit the lands
around Stonehenge and kick out the current incumbents. Ridiculous
argument isn't it? So, why do we take the Jewish claim so seriously?
The fact remains that Israel was created. It exists. I contend that it
exists as a conquering nation. As such, it acts as a conquering nation
to suppress the natives of the land it occupies. Naturally, these
natives, like all natives in all conquered lands, resist. Yet we call
them terrorists. One side murders someone. The other side retaliates
and murders them. Basically, we have a war. Should we not thus refer
to both sides as combatants rather than calling the Palestinians
terrorists or shall we also call the Jews terrorists, just to be fair.
I fear that there will be no peace in this region for a long time. The
atrocities each side inflicts upon the other has now spanned more than
one generation. The Jewish children and the Palestinian children will
now be taught to hate each other before they have the chance to learn
that they are in fact fellow countrymen. I therefore see that this
conflict will invade the hearts of these people for hundreds of years.
If peace ever comes, it will really be just a cease fire.
I weep for you Israel. I also weep for you Palestine. When will you
realise that you are not just neighbours. You are brothers.

a point those narrow-minded anti-samaritans fail to grasp.

Well, Jacob (Israel) stole Esau's birthright while his elder brother
was out hunting. He put on sheep skins and wore his brother's clothes
in order to steal his inheritance by confusing his ageing father.
Esau later forgave Jacob, his long lost brother. Jacob/Israel's clan
later moved to Egypt due to drought, and to meet up with young Joey
and his amazing technicoloured dreamcoat, where they were well looked
after. Later, enslaved, they were freed by Moses, who led them back
to the land they once inhabited all those years before. But the
people still in the land were not very welcoming, and still aren't.
This feud goes back a *long* way - although, not because Esau hated
Israel, but probably more because the Israelites came out of Egypt and
laid claim to the holy lands of their ancestors. At least, this was
probably the first occasion tempers flared. Later, it was because Gt.
Britain gave their holy land to the Israelis *again*.
Let's think about it. They lived there (they believe) first.
Israelites come and say it belongs to them and settle there.
Israelites get dispersed, I think by the Babylonians. Then they come
back and take it over again. Israelites get dispersed *again*, i
think by either the Greeks or Romans, and they come back *again*.
Then came the crusades and all that stuff. Then Gt. Britain, who
occupied the region, just "gives" the land "back" to the Jews *again*.
it's a hard knock life.
(Was I fairly accurate? My memory is a bit vague, and I'm too lazy to
look for references.) :-)
