Looks like the conservatives are railing about "surrender" now too.
They're just catching up with we "fringe leftists" and our longterm
concern about Bush's mental state. Just goes to show we've been right

NEW YORK The Pittsburgh newspaper owned by conservative billionaire
Richard Mellon Scaife yesterday called the Bush administration's plans
to stay the course in Iraq a "prescription for American suicide."
The editorial in the Tribune-Review added, "And quite frankly, during
last Thursday's news conference, when George Bush started blathering
about 'sometimes the decisions you make and the consequences don't
enable you to be loved,' we had to question his mental stability."

Uh, what "context" have I "finally" gotten?
There I go, overestimating you again.
Really? Why don't you just explain what you're mumbling about? If it's
about the Iraq war, I've been saying for about two years now that if I
knew then what I know now, I wouldn't have supported the invasion.
That's the problem, Stevie, Bush knew then what you "know" now.
Puhlease, John....
Stevie always knew.
Knew what? Even the leaders of France, Germany, and Russia didn't
know. Yet you expected me to know?

You might want to try catching up, even the liberal NY Times
is coming around to the view that the war in Iraq is worth fighting.
The "nutty fringe" as you put it, is people like yourself who don't
realize the threat posed by Islamic forces that are determined to
destroy western civilization.
Like it or not the main fronts in this battle are now in Iraq and
Afghanistan,
if we fail to win there, then the war comes home to us because the
enemy
will not be satisfied with victory over there.
So ask yourself this question, are you and your family ready to submit
to Sharia Law? If not, then you had better get behind the effort to
defeat
the Islamic forces, because that is what they intend to impose on the
the
West.

The yanks are being kicked out of Iraq, as are the Brits. They will
leave as soon as public pressure i Yankieland and GB becomes enough.
You can't win a guerilla war...not even the yanks. Actually the Brits
have much more experience in guerilla war than the stupid yanks...but
the Brits have never "won" a guerilla war despite that experience.
It's a lose lose situation. The local population are terrorised and
slaughtered by both sides and the occupiers are getting killed one
after the other until popular opinion in their own country becomes a
large enough force and they are forced to leave. Then all those kids
who were killed fighting for nothing have only thrown their lives away
for a lost cause. That's what's gonna happen here, that's what
happened in Vietnam. You lost in Vietnam...you do know that don't you?

I don't remember Iraq nor Afghanistan, (as a whole), being involved.

It really wasn't for absolutely nothing, since the more economically
prosperous South of Vietnam (which was allowed to remain free for many
years) has been carrying the dead weight of the Communist North all
these years. Otherwise the whole of Vietnam would be another hellhole
like North Korea.
