The no-fly zones over Iraq
________________________________________________________________________________
Years before the invasion of Iraq, two no-fly zones over Iraq were imposed by the US and UK.
Iraqi aircraft were excluded from these zones.
These no-fly zones were NOT authorized by the United Nations.
And they were NOT specifically sanctioned by any Security Council resolution.
The enforcers claimed a false authority under Security Council Resolution 688.

And created a haven for terrorists, who built a camp outside of Saddam's

Were you willing to let Saddam pacify those regions? He was committing
genocide there before we responded with the no-fly zones.

Considering Saddam only had a few choppers, his radar was constantly
being destroyed.
I am sure when the sandal is on the other foot, a no fly zone might
also be imposed!

You do realize that these no-fly zones protected the Kurds and the Sunni
in the South and made it more difficult for Saddam to further commit
genocide, don't you? Or do you support genocide when Saddam does it?

Why weren't there no fly zone imposed on him earlier eh? Like during
the Iran-Iraq war when he was at his most active genocide best? Oh
right, he wasn't the big bad boogieman back then....no, he was your
bestest bud in the region.....fighting those heathen Iranians and
their Kurdish allies.....is there anything as two faced as a Neo-Con?

Earlier when? They were imposed after the end of the 1991 Gulf War after
Saddam began his genocide of the Marsh Arabs and the Kurds.
Like during
the Iran-Iraq war when he was at his most active genocide best?
Was he at his genocide 'best' then? He managed to kill almost all of the
Marsh Arabs after the 1991 Gulf War. That was pretty bad.
Oh
right, he wasn't the big bad boogieman back then....no, he was your
bestest bud in the region.....
How do you figure? If Iraq was a US ally, why doesn't Iraq have any US
made weapons?

This is nonsense. Of course dual use materials made in the US managed to
get to Iraq but feel free to find US made *weapons* there. You can't.
The rest of this crap below is also not what I was asking for.
Biological samples are *not* bioweapons, not WMDs.

Those are biological samples sold by ATCC, which does that sort of thing

samples all over the world. Here is a link to their National Park
Service collection, [ http://www.atcc.org/SpecialCollection/NPS.cfm ],
which I'm sure you'll claim is 'bioweapons' if someone like Saddam
manages to get hold of them.

Of course you have no evidence he has done anything of the kind. But
since you are too stupid to refute his policies you have to libel the
man. Another reason you are held in such contempt. You are
intellectually dishonest.

Biological samples from the CDC and ATCC are used all over the world for
research purposes. Anthrax is a major killer of livestock in the third
world.

Steve Irwin. LMFAO.
To you (and me) he may seem like an over grown 11 year old with ADHD, but
the amount of good he does for the Australian environment negates my urge to
feel ashamed of him being a spokes person for my country.
With the money he makes he buys large (huge) expanses of natural habitat,
and makes sure thats how they remain. What a shame your country doesn't
have such an unselfish champion of the land... will there be any natural
beauty left in north America after the corps have had their way with it?
My point is, people (like you) may make fun of Steve Irwin, but he's doing
more (in terms or results) for the Australian (and indeed, planet earth's)
environment than just about every pencil pushing politician in every
government on earth... Smart Australians are not ashamed of him, they can
see past his childish nature to what he really is - An Environmental Super
Hero.

Under international law, there is a right to intervene to prevent a
humanitarian catastrophe.

The no-fly zones over Iraq
____________________________________________________________________________
____
Years before the invasion of Iraq, two no-fly zones over Iraq were
imposed by the US and UK.
Iraqi aircraft were excluded from these zones.
These no-fly zones were NOT authorized by the United Nations.
And they were NOT specifically sanctioned by any Security Council
resolution.
The enforcers claimed a false authority under Security Council Resolution
688.
