Well I have been wondering about this Quatrain which I believe is a
profile of Saddam Hussein his life in power
C8Q70. He will enter, wicked, unpleasant, infamous,
tyrannizing over Mesopotamia 9.
All friends made by the adulterous lady, the
*Head /land dreadful and black of aspect.
9 Mesopotamia = Iraq or Avignon or Lyon
The first line is Saddam's return from Egypt when an exile in 1968
The second line his true colours come to the fore, with a Stalinist
play all his rivals are disappeared and purges begin
The third line is a play on the ***** of Babylon theme using the
Republic of France as the adulterous lady France being Iraq's biggest
trading nation and the allusion to the "deals" made.
The fourth line is Saddam's end at power and his wretched looks.

At the same time the word translated above as 'land' is in fact
tertre, not terre a word meaning 'mound', and typical of Mesopotamia's
'tells', or city mounds so unless this is a misspelling (deliberate or
otherwise), the fit may not be as convincing as perhaps it seems at
first sight.
