Artist: Ramones
Song: The Shape Of Things To Come
Album: Acid Eaters
There's a new sun Risin' up angry in the sky
And there's a new voice Sayin' "we're not afraid to die"
Let the old world make believe It's blind and deaf and dumb
But nothing can change the shape of things to come
There are changes Lyin' ahead in every road
And there are new thoughts Ready and waiting to explode
When tomorrow is today The bells may toll for some
But nothing can change the shape of things to come
The future's comin' in, now Sweet and strong
Ain't no-one gonna hold it back for long
There are new dreams Crowdin' out old realities
There's revolution Sweepin' in like a fresh new breeze
Let the old world make believe It's blind and deaf and dumb
(But) nothing can change the shape of things
To come

Here I was thinking, this post was a Hg Wells play on " Of days to
come"
Made as a movie in the 30's as Things to come, but Ramones song been a
long time since Rockaway Beach, even saw the Ramones in the Rainbow at
London!
Sid Vicious was there, blowing the biggest scoobie I had seen for a
while!

The Ramones' covered this futuristic tune that was originally written for
a fictional rock group, Max Frost and The Troopers (by Cynthia Weil, Barry
Mann) for the fascinating but absurd 1968 B-flick, "Wild In The Streets,"
starring then-hot property Christopher Jones. It played on the fears of
straight America about the rock-happy, drug-poppin', promiscuous "youth
rebellion." Although a campy hoot now, my parents' generation seriously
wondered whether under-30-year-old people were trying to overthrow the US
government. In the silly script, everyone that aged beyond 30 was forced
into prisons (including a disheveled Shelley Winters!), and 14 year olds
were given the right to vote. ("14 or Fight!") LOL! (Sort of a political
extrapolation of 1967's "Riot On Sunset Strip" and countless other "hippie
exploitation" movies of that insane period.)
The Ramones really rocked hard. One of the cult bands on my "10 Best Cult
Rockers" list. I saw them in concert in Seattle in the late 70s. The
crowd was stoned out of their minds. Mostly booze, but plenty of acid,
coke, and weed, too. Some of the audience passed out in melodic ecstasy! A
drunken gal behind me nearly barfed on my pant legs! Eck...but it was
"memorable." I got lost on the way home. heeheehee...

Well, we have something in common, Doc. I also loved the Ramones, although
I never saw them live...
