And these guys ran for election on a "values" package. tsk tsk
Personally I like to see guys with 20% approval ratings going around
slamming people that object to the war. Especailly seeing how the war
is becoming more and more unpopular. Especially when that certain
someone got five, count 'em, five deferments. Ought to go a long way
toward advancing their cause.
The monkeys are definitely losing touch.

No, they aren't doing anything differently from what they've been doing
all along. What's changed is that the press has started to finally do
its job of asking questions and informing the public about what's going on.

And doing nothing different at this point is part of being out of
touch.
An analyst on the evening news tonite put it best when he said that the
administration is treating Iraq as if it's a p.r. problem. They don't
seem to understand that it's a very serious policy problem.
I agree with you about the press. I was listening to a chastened
Andrea Mitchell on NPR on Friday. Very remorseful it seems for not
properly challenging the monkeys in the run up to the war.

Yes, but at the time any questioning of Bush was viewed as high treason.
Those of us who did so certainly felt that.

Absolutely. It's possible I would have had my position changed at or
before the beginning of the war if there could have been a little more
brass shown by the press.
Instead I had to come to apn and have my eyes gradually opened. :-)
Thanks to you, Chris, TW, Marv and a few others for that.
Now I'm a delighted Libbocon that has done some more digging and
connected a few threads of history. It all ties in with my sky pixie
worship too.
I also think that the Establishment press has learned it's lesson. At
least until the next American Imperial Excursion.
What they're saying now is like the CIA saying it was all a matter of
bad intelligence.

That was it ... you were either with the admin or with the terrorists.
If you questioned their decisions they questioned your patriotism ... as
if basing decisions strictly along 'patriotic' lines is an infalliable
process.

Nice try, but that's an incorrect *spin* of Bush's quote. In its
correct context, the quote was directed at the world's nations, not
individual US citizens. And he did not refer to his admin, he referred
to the United States -- "either you're with us, or you're with the
terrorists."
If you questioned their decisions they questioned your patriotism ...
as if basing decisions strictly along 'patriotic' lines is an infalliable

Hmm, I wonder how you felt about this Presidential quotation: "You
can't say you love your country and hate your government."
