The Vietnam Draftees

The army of draftees in Vietnam did not represent a typical cross-section of American society.
This was a conscript army which was heavily loaded on the side of society where Democrat
supporters are usually found.
Why was this ?
Because the rich conservative kids all found ways of sidestepping the draft.
Even today, Republican supporters still refuse to accept this.

I'm republican and I spent 22 years in the Navy retiring as a CPO and I'm
conservative. I must admit I wasn't when I joined but I was when I retired
and I have to thank Clinton for that education. Nothing like spending 13 or
14 years in the service only to have draft dodger disrespect you and get you
involved in all manner of ***** missions all for the benefit of old
Europe. Then once retired find out that not even Old Europe appreciate your
sacrifices either but rather felt entitled to the service. Yugoslavia was
the greatest ***** ever perpetrated on the US citizens, manipulation at
the beginning to gain public support and no mass graves to this very day, so
no mass graves = no genocide and the fact that Democrats have never called
Clinton on the pad for his actions for Old Europe shows their hypocrisy.
Let's not forget Wesley Clark 35,000 foot braver and genocide, now they want
to reward him even though he was asked to retire early, which is military
code for you've been fired. Then the hypocrites want to claim Bush lied
when even Chirac had the following to say on March 10th 2003:
"...we have from the outset found ourselves up against a problem, an Iraq
which obviously possessed weapons of mass destruction, which were in the
hands of an indisputably dangerous regime and consequently posed a definite
threat to the world. So it was essential to disarm that regime, that
country, to eliminate its weapons of mass destruction."

Democrat reflect all that is wrong with Old Europe and will subjugate
American sovereignty to the will of the UN even though they failed to
enforce their own resolutions in Iraq. Not only did they fail in all
respects with Iraq but they couldn't even keep Chirac from using the UN to
change from Iraqi non compliance to putting the US on trial. And these weak
kneed Democrat nine want to turn our nation's sovereignty over to them, stay
strong America we can and will reject and throw back this attempted cope.

I'm a Democrat and I joined the Air Force at age 17
in 1962 (with my parents signed consent). I had no
concept of the Vietnam war that was brewing. But,
had I not gotten really sick with strange and lengthy
flu like illness during my 6 weeks of basic training -- I
would never have gotten the Honorable Discharge under
medical circumstances. I was still 17 when discharged.
That made my draft status 1-Y (totally exempt from the
draft). When I turned 18 in October -- I had to register
and I blew the draft boards mind when I checked the
form that I had prior military service. They said that
was the first time anybody that just turned 18 had
been given an Honorable Discharge from the Air Force
when they came in to register for the draft. They did
not even believe me until IU pulled out my discharge
papers to show them.
As you might guess I was never drafted as the 1-Y
status prohibited it.
I suspect that If not for that strange and long flu like
illness -- I would have been sent to the war in Vietnam
and been killed in action.
