There's only one practical way to try to stop the U.S. war machine... |
It should be abundantly clear to reasonable people the world over that
the citizens of the U.S. are far too mentally and morally defective to
be expected to do or even try to do anything to rein in the madmen
that rule the U.S.
The best chance to stop the madmen and their war macine is to stop the
U.S. dollar; the one thing that the madmen in Washington have little
control over.
It is very likely within the power of the OPEC countries and China,
Japan, Taiwan and South Korea, acting collectively, to stop this
madness.
In fact, it is a moral duty of any country propping up the dollar in
any sense, to stop doing so, and instead do anything in their power to
destroy the dollar.
It will only be when the U.S. is no longer a "superpower" propping up
the abominable state of Israel, for example, that there is any chance
of peace in the Mid-East, or or in Colombia, for example.
Every drop of blood shed in Iraq because of the brutal occupation, or
in the occupied Palestinian territories, or in Colombia, is not only
on the hands of the U.S. government and the U.S. citizens that support
their government's crimes, it is increasingly on those countries who
make it all possible by financing the monster as it eats the world
alive.

I agree with a lot of your sentiment here but none of this will happen.
All that do business with the monster will be co-opted. OPEC, Japan and
especially China will never do anything to damage their largest customer.
It's in their best interest to feed the monster. China's been buying
dollars to beat the band lately to keep it's value propped up. They want to
keep their products cheap enough and our economy healthy enough for us to
voraciously consume. It's a different world now, controlled by a common
force.
You could also say that we "mentally and morally defectives" have been
co-opted also. Our lives depend on this system. Our children's lives
depend on this system. Try firmly and clearly explaining to a patriotic
American the wrongs, the horrors that have occurred in the name of freedom
and liberty and the American way of life and if you get any response at all
it will more than likely rouse an angry passion that will startle you. Even
in the kindest of old people. At the core of this passion is self
preservation. It's the same core passion that, for example, inspired
Marines to fight thru unimaginable horror at places like Iwo Jima and
Peleliu. It's the same passion that would turn Teheran into a flat shiny
mirror if Iran was found to be behind another "Pearl Harbor" attack on
America sometime in the future. The powers that be know very well how to
kindle and focus this passion.
We're all in the belly of the monster but there is a shattering on the way.

Michael, TWA800 was 14 miles off shore at 13,700 feet. There is NO
WAY a
stinger fired from the shore coudl have got anywhere near it. It
woudl be an
incredible flujke if someone stood in a boat directly underneath
TWA800
could hit it.
According the the FBI the missile range was plausible.
Nope,. or do you have a cite? The FBI TREATED it as a missile attack
from the beginning, and coached the witnesses accordingly.
Of course, what the witnesses described was not any known MANPAD
missile because every witness who mentions a "flare", "streak of
light" etc says they saw it rise, then come down as a fireball. Now,
WE KNOW TWA800 was at 13,700 feet, and in order for what teh witnesses
saw to have been a missile, itwoul have to have been a missile in
boost at 13,700 feet. Only very big missiles are still in boost (i.e.
produceing a "flare" or "streak of light" at that altitude.
Hence, it was not a stinger. Or do you have a rational argument
against that?
Hey Goony, no one said they saw a "flare" or "streak of light" at the
level of the plane, they saw those things down near the surface on
it's way up,
Really? Got a cite?
Micahel posted plenty of site that told what the witnesses saw, I
remember them cleary
LOL! Obviously you remember wrong, seeing as I can produce cites from
witnesses who describe the "flare" as being at the same height as the
aircraft. (hardly surprising as the "flare" was alomst certainly the burning
aircraft)
as reporters questioned people live on the local
news for hours after the event.
Ah, so you don't have a cite, why not simply say so? Wheras I DO have a
cite, three in fact, from witnesses saying it WAS at the level of the plane,
so you lose again! (no wonder you snipped it, you fucking lying coward)
WRONG: http://www.ntsb.gov/events/TWA800/exhibits/Ex_4B.pdf
Witness 243
"the flyingobject was relatively slow in flying up and took about four or
five seconds before hitting.."
Witness 216
"observed a flare going vertically down and a horizontal explosion about 1/2
way down"
Witness 562
First observed the flare "15 degrees above the horizon" at 13,700 feet,
TWA800 appeared to be about 14.6 degrees above the horizon.
Before you said "many witnesses" claimed to see a "projectile". Of
course, no such witness says any such thing (and I leave it up to the reader
to decide if a "projectile" 5 feet long would be visible from 12 miles
away..)
Stop distorting things to fit you story.
I'm not, you are. You have a load of "half remembered" CNN reports to go
on - I, on the other hand, choose to examine the actual witness reports
No one saw a flare up at the planes level.
WRONG: http://www.ntsb.gov/events/TWA800/exhibits/Ex_4B.pdf
Witness 243

So there's three witnesses how either claim to have seen the "flare" go up
to
the aircraft's altitude or who witnessed the "flare" at the same elveation
above the horizon as the aircraft.
There are no doubt many more, but that's enough to contradict you, so I'll
stop there.

Well, a burnnig 747 can be expected o leave a "streak of light". A shoulder

the abominable state of Israel, for example, that there is any chance
of peace in the Mid-East, or or in Colombia, for example.
Every drop of blood shed in Iraq because of the brutal occupation, or
in the occupied Palestinian territories, or in Colombia, is not only
on the hands of the U.S. government and the U.S. citizens that support
their government's crimes, it is increasingly on those countries who
make it all possible by financing the monster as it eats the world
alive.

This quote from "demidog" on another message board.
"It amazes me how much more the Europeans, South Americans and the rest of

I agree with a lot of your sentiment here but none of this will happen.
All that do business with the monster will be co-opted. OPEC, Japan and
especially China will never do anything to damage their largest customer.
It's in their best interest to feed the monster. China's been buying
dollars to beat the band lately to keep it's value propped up. They want
to
keep their products cheap enough and our economy healthy enough for us to
voraciously consume. It's a different world now, controlled by a common
force.
You could also say that we "mentally and morally defectives" have been
co-opted also. Our lives depend on this system. Our children's lives
depend on this system. Try firmly and clearly explaining to a patriotic
American the wrongs, the horrors that have occurred in the name of freedom
and liberty and the American way of life and if you get any response at
all
it will more than likely rouse an angry passion that will startle you.
Even
in the kindest of old people.
We're all in the belly of the monster but there is a shattering on the
way.

Excellent post, the process is in motion. The Americans are damn near
broke, they have to pillage other countries to keep their failing
economy going. The rest of the world is slowly waking up to this fact,
won't be long before the Americans stand alone.

No, we have our problems here with our government too.Lots of
corruption and scandel. We are pretty much the same as your country,
both stuck with a government we don't want. I'm sure overall we both
want the same thing, world peace and love of our fellow man...all
fellow men and women. I don't care what a person looks like or what
color his skin is, or his sexual preference, or his religion. I just
want everyone to think for themselves, don't believe everything the
media or government tells you for more times than not it's bull.

It won't be easy. A large percentage of those Americans 'caught
in the middle' work for those large corporations and derive a
higher standard of living than could otherwise be possible for
them. What you're saying won't be an easy sell. In fact it won't
sell at all. You're trying to blame all the world's problems on
the American government and the corporate system in general, and
that just doesn't fly.
Problems in the world stem from a lot of different sources, but
trying to blame motivated, hard working people just doesn't work.
Unless you have a ready alternative to a fair legal system and
equal opportunity for all citizens then I'd say your argument is
a non-starter.
And please be more specific than 'the US has been terrorizing the
world for 50 years now' . Give some specific examples we can talk
about.

Don't be so sure about that there Dani. We nixed your missle defense
project, so now you are stopping our cattle from going in to your
country. Your government is acting like a child, you won't support our
system, we won't let in your cows. The list of trade squabbles between
the two countries is too numerous to list, anti-americanism is getting
stronger by the day up here. I think we would be better off with a
Russian or Chinnese trade partner than with America who likes to play
silly games and change the rules to suit their greed and hunger for
power.
Why can't anyone spot sarcasm anymore? <sigh>
Anyway - I'm not losing sleep over it, Daaark.
I literally cried (actual tears) when Bush was reelected. I blame
all of this on him. So, when you constantly talk about how God awful
us Americans are - remember the half of us that are stuck in the
middle of this too.
I think *all* American people are caught in the middle, whether they
voted for Bush or not. The source of the problem is not Bush. The US
government - run by corporations - has been carrying out terrorism on
global levels for a good 50 years now. If anything, Bush's reelection is
helping many sleeping Americans to wake up and realize what their
government is doing in their name. Things will get worse before they get
better. All American people will ultimately have to make a choice to
follow their evil government, or join the rest of the peoples of the
world to fight tyranny and terror. It won't be easy...
Global scale unrest on a planet that's getting smaller by the day,
coupled by huge environmental problems on the way, will make it fly
sooner or later. Corporations cannot be trusted to run the world simply
because their primary goal in life is to make money. And to do this,
they have shown they stop at nothing. We can either try to change their
attitudes, or limit their control over the world. Either way, it will
mean important changes in the life of the average Joe, many not so
pleasant!
Problems in the world stem from a lot of different sources, but
trying to blame motivated, hard working people just doesn't work.
Unless you have a ready alternative to a fair legal system and
equal opportunity for all citizens then I'd say your argument is
a non-starter.
Americans have a huge role to play in the way we run our planet. There
is no doubt, and most Americans would agree with me that they consume
way too much. If everyone on the planet today consumed as much as
Americans, we would need three Earths to support our needs. And the
worst of it is that many Americans honestly believe that their way of
life is a great model to follow by the rest of the world. The huge
amounts of advertising that corporations shoot at you ranging from
billboards on highways to the almost full control of the airwaives has
an important responsibility in all this. But no doubt, with comfort
comes indifference, wishful thinking and fairy tale believing.
And please be more specific than 'the US has been terrorizing the
world for 50 years now' . Give some specific examples we can talk
about.
Well, let's start with this list that includes direct bombardments since
World War II:
China 1945-46, Korea 1950-53, China 1950-53, Guatemala 1954, Indonesia
1958, Cuba 1959-60, Guatemala 1960, Congo 1964, Peru 1965, Laos 1964-73,
Vietnam 1961-73, Cambodia 1969-70, Guatemala 1967-69, Grenada 1983,
Lebanon 1984, Libya 1986, El Salvador 1980s, Nicaragua 1980s, Panama
1989, Iraq 1991-1999, Sudan 1998, Afghanistan 1998, Yugoslavia 1999.
Afghanistan 2002, Iraq (2003-?)
Then we can move on to covert, semi covert and other military
operations. Here are some better known examples in the past 50 years:
Philippines - 1948-54 - The CIA directed a civil war against the ilipino
Huk revolt.
Puerto Rico - 1950 - Military helped crush an independence rebellion in
Ponce.
Iran - 1953 - The CIA orchestrated the overthrow of democratically
elected Mossadegh and restored the Shah to power.
Guatemala - 1954 - The CIA overthrew the democratically elected Arbenz
and placed Colonel Armas in power.
Panama - 1958 - Troops landed after Panamanians demonstrations
threatened the Canal Zone.
Vietnam - 1950s-75 - Vietnam War.
Cuba - 1961 - The CIA-directed Bay of Pigs invasions failed to overthrow
the Castro government.
Indonesia - 1965 - The CIA orchestrated a military coup.
Guatemala - 1966-67 - Green Berets sent in.
Chile - 1973 - The CIA orchestrated a coup, killing President Allende
who had been popularly elected. The CIA helped to establish a military
regime under General Pinochet.
Angola - 1976-92 - The CIA backed South African rebels fighting against
Marxist Angola.
El Salvador - 1981-92 - The CIA, troops, and advisers aid in El
Salvador's war against the FMLN.
Nicaragua - 1981-90 - The CIA and NSC directed the Contra War against
the Sandinistas.
Lebanon - 1982-84 - Marines occupied Beirut during Lebanon's civil war;
241 were killed in the American barracks and Reagan "redeployed" the
troops to the Mediterranean.
Honduras - 1983-89 - Troops sent in to build bases near the Honduran border.
Libya - 1986 - American fighters hit targets in and around the capital
city of Tripoli.
Libya - 1989 - Navy shot down two more Libyan jets.
Virgin Islands - 1989 - Troops landed during unrest among Virgin Island
peoples.
Philippines - 1989 - Air Force provided air cover for government during
coup.
Panama - 1989-90 - 27,000 Americans landed in overthrow of President
Noriega; over 2,000 Panama civilians were killed.
Somalia - 1992-94 - Troops occupied Somalia during civil war.
Sudan - 1998 - American missiles destroyed a pharmaceutical complex
where alleged nerve gas components were manufactured.
And not to forget assassinations, following is some examples of
assassination or failed attempts:
*1949 - Kim Koo, Korean opposition leader
1950's - CIA/Neo-Nazi hit list of numerous political figures in West Germany
*1950's Sukarno, President of Indonesia
1955 - Jose' Antonio Remon, President of Panama
1950's Chou Enlai, Prime Minister of China, several attempts on his life
1951 - Kim Il Sung, Premiere of North Korea
1950s (mid) - Claro M. Recto, Philippines opposition leader
1955 - Jawhar Lal Nehru, Prime Minister of India
1957 Gamal Abdul Nasser, President of Egypt
1959 and 1963 - Norodom Sihanouk, leader of Cambodia
1950s-70s - Jose Figueres, President of Costa Rica, two attempts on his life
1960 Brigadier General, Abdul Karim Kassem, Leader of Iraq
1961 - Francois "Papa Doc"Duvalier, leader of Haiti
1961 - Patrice Lumumba , Prime Minister of Congo (Zaire)
1961 - Gen. Rafael Trujillo, leader of Dominican Republic
1963 - Ngo Dinh Diem, President of South Vietnam
1960s - Fidel Castro, President of Cuba, more than 15 attempts on his life
1960s - Raul Castro, high official in government of Cuba
1965 - Francisco Caamanao, Dominican Republic opposition leader
1965 - Pierre Ngendandumwe, Prime Minister of Burundi
1965-6 - Charles de Gaulle, President of France
1967 - Che Guevara, Cuban leader
1970 - Salvadore Allende, President of Chile
1970 - General Rene Schneider, Commander-in-Chief of Army, Chile
1970s and 1981 - Gen. Omar Torrijos, leader of Panama
1972 - General Manuel Noriega, Chief of Panama Intelligence
1975 - Mobutu Sese Seko, President of Zaire
1976 - Michael Manley, Prime Minister of Jamaica
1983 - Miguel d'Escoto, Foreign Minister of Nicaragua
1984 - The nine commandantes of the Sandanista National Directorate
1980's - Dr. Gerald Bull, Canadian Ballistics Scientist assassinated by
Mossad in Belgium.
And it goes on and on... But perhaps the worst terror of all is the
constant and imminent threat of a nuclear catastrophe. A computer
issuing a false alarm leading to a nuclear war. Or a mad man provoking
the Armageddon. You think people are crazy to be scared of Americans?

Change the attitudes of the corporations ? You must mean changing
attitudes of those who run the corporations... what, so they'll
stop wanting money ? So you're a communist. You think everyone
is identical and we work for sheer joy of working ? The Russians
tried it (it failed). The Chinese tried it (now they're learning
peoples' true motivations lie in achieving a better lifestyle).
I really have to wonder about the root cause of your sentiments.
Are you envious that western culture has achieved such global
dominance - technologically, economically, politically ?
