Taken from Wally's Sun report.
"Pope Benedict called the shooting a "senseless tragedy" and said he
was praying for the victims and the families. The Vatican said he had
sent a telegram of condolence"
Oh yippee. Now everything is better. Mummy has kissed the injured
child's grazed knee and it has, like magic, healed.
Douglas, You have your God. You can keep the 'Devine' Monster too.
This is your God? Don't you ever dare preach religion in my direction.
Gosh, a telegram of condolence. Will God be sending one as well?

So he should say nothing then?

I don't get why every politician and public figure has to send out a press
release stating what they've done in response to something like this.
It's not like anything you say or do is going to make it better, so why
not just shut the heck up and stop using tragedies as a means of getting
free publicity. It's sick.
Now, if there's something like a tsunami, earthquake, or other disaster,
and people need help, and you're organizing a relief effort (& need to get
out info on how to assist in that), that's another matter. But mostly, I
just see people putting out PR pieces just to get some face time with the
public.

No, I was thinking "hell", actually. Although, my daughter would have
said something much stronger. (Ya raise a kid to be all prim and proper,
send her to an exclusive prep school, and she comes home swearing like a
sailor - LOL!)

It's not for you, Woods, it's to acknowledge the families of the
victims.

You're very cynical, aren't you?
