101 weeks to go until we're rid of the Bush/Cheney fiasco.

There's absolutely no reason that that 101 weeks could be cut less than
half by movement toward criminal court proceedings and impeachment.
I'm appalled at the lackadaisical attitude among the public and congress.
Are they waiting for a wider war and an economic downfall? Peaceful
demonstrations to be taken over by extreme radicals and turned into
self-defeating riots and bombings? Mental illness to spread through the
society at all levels because we can't stand up for what we say we believe
in -- fairness, justice, the preservation of life, peace, cooperation,
understanding among the peoples of the world? What do we fucking stand
for -- more revenge, war, violence, lies, greed, insanity?
To let such psychotics, pathological liars, and cold-assed murderers stay
in power is indicative of either a complacent sheepish public living on
the mindless fat of the last days of a roaring economy, or a severely
sadomasochistic populace gettin' their cathartic entertainment from daily
jokes about the sickness of their leadership (while gettin' it up their
collective *****).

Once this report becomes declassified, Bush won't have to worry
about the Iraq outcome to determine his presidential legacy. He'll
have his own actions leading up to the Iraq invasion damning him
as the worst president the US ever had.

Some things take time, and a methodical, plodding approach. I
think this is one of those things. The first step is to reign
in the moron GWB, who hijacked our country. The next step is
figure out how justice can be served without him getting a
pardon from Cheney who would fill his position were he to be
impeached or otherwise pulled from power.
These issues, and a myriad of other problems created by Bush
are currently being wrestled with by the Congress.

The first thing they'll do is start releasing information to the general
public. Like this committee report that apparently shows we "fringe
leftists" have been right all along about the "mischaracterizaton" of
intelligence. Hearings, as well, that'll show how our fear and anger over
9/11 was manipulated to serve the neocon agenda. There'll be a
groundswelling of anger and disgust where there was simply a 72% disapproval
level.
I don't know how well many of you remember Watergate. There was a great
deal of passion and disgust aroused when the truth about Nixon came out. A
lot of angry people surging out of their ease and comfort by some of Crooked
***** I's shenanigans. Lot's of PO'ed people in this country and all Tricky
***** did was try to hide a burglary, not incompetently lead 3,000 American
troops to their deaths and 25,000 more to their wounding. Nixon did try to
stretch and bend the constitution as well but it didn't involve creating the
largest fiasco in the history of America foreign policy.
People know how to manipulate these things and you'll see a sculpting of
revelation that may not peak until just before the Republican convention 18
months from now. The idea isn't seeing justice done. The idea is to win
the White House and solidify the control of Congress. With soooooooo many
Republican Senate seats on the line next cycle you may end up with the
largest majority any one party has had in the history of American elective
politics.

Well, I think we have to start repairing our world image, and
that will mean showing the world we have the resolve to bring
our own leaders to justice for crimes they have committed.
The White House, yes, of course, we need to take that back.

It's like a whip-saw. We keep getting whipped too far in one
direction or the other. I have to agree with Woods... I prefer
situations where one party controls the White House, and another
party controls the Congress. This is where checks and balances are
the most effective.

Absolutely. Complete agreement there. I think we started repairing it last
November.
And if it were up to me Bush, Cheney and a few others would be sitting in an
Arab jail for crimes against humanity yesterday.

I agree with you two there also. Hillary's a practicing witch and Obama is
too young.

Is Hillary actually a practicing "w"itch, or rhymes-with-witch? ;-)
If you mean actual witch, what kind? I mean, anyone who uses herbal
remedies could fall into that category, this would be called a
"kitchen witch". I guess a case could be made that anyone who failed to
use pharmaceuticals exclusively to treat ailments could be said to be a
practicing witch.

I would never, ever interfere with anyone's free will choices about their
lives. You know that the individual will is the strongest force in the
universe. Not even God can change it.
I'm not sure exactly which route Hillary is going. This all just came to me
when I was listening to "Stairway to Heaven" in the dark the other night.
I'll get back with you tomorrow morning.

Which version - Led Zeppelin or Dolly Parton's? Just curious, one's a bit
more hard-edged than the other.

I'd forgotten about Dolly. She's a practicing witch too.
I think Hillary is going to give us a deeper, more nuanced definition of
hard edged.
