There isn't much chance that the size of the asteroid will significantly
affect the orbit or spin of Mars, Kim, if it strikes. There will be no effect
on the earth's rotation or orbit, Kim. No reputable scientist has said there
is even a remote chance of that happening. If the impact occurs, it'll be a
first for astronomers and astrophysicists and much should be learned from
the asteroid impacts. But, first, it must overcome great odds and strike
Mars. I hear the odds were (last) about 3.6%, down from 3.9% earlier.
The same concerns about the comet fragments that hit Jupiter were expressed
by astrologers and psychics in 1994, but the Earth experienced nothing of
note...other than a brief bout of mild hysteria from the public and elation
from astro-scientists. Jupiter was temporarily stunned, but the planet is
massive and didn't succumb to the multiple impacts.
You're overheatin', Kim, and you need a good long ice bath...I suggest you
watch Nickelodeon's cartoons for a few days and the Comedy Channel. Relax!
More likely, your and my end, and most of us in this group, will come
unceremoniously from the ravages of old age.

Odds of Mars-asteroid collision drop
Los Angeles Times
LOS ANGELES | The odds of a collision between asteroid 2007 WD5 and Mars
later this month have gone down, scientists said Wednesday.
The chances of a collision on Jan. 30 are currently about 3.6 percent, said
Don Yeomans, manager of NASA's Near-Earth Objects Program at the Jet
Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif.
In late December, Yeomans said, the odds of a collision between the Red
Planet and the 160-foot-wide space rock rose as high as 3.9 percent. Those
were the best odds ever recorded by the nine-year-old Near-Earth Objects
office, which was set up to track objects that might threaten Earth.
Most of the time, astronomers in the office root against a collision. This
time, they were hoping for one. Were it to hit, it would provide a bonanza
of scientific results.
The asteroid's most likely course would cause it to miss Mars by 22,000
miles.

I must emphasize that your posts, in reply, more and more are
disassociative. Perhaps it's the falling out you've had with Michel,
angering him by attempting some pseudo-clever arcane predictions faintly,
pathetically reminiscent of his vastly superior poetic, cryptic style.
Or, perhaps, it's your own advancing mental deterioration from 15 years of
banal bantering and senseless harassment on the usenet.
Or, just maybe...just possibly, you've contracted AIDS and don't yet know
it, and it's eating out what's left of your minute brain.
Nonetheless, you exist only to irritate and exploit, adding little to
discussions much like a hot desert wind rearranges grains of sand.
Blow your air, lil' fairy, and certainly keep being redundant and boring --
we'd expect nothing less.
