REP. TOM FEENEY ®, FLORIDA SEZ:
Congressman‘s Tom Feeney of Florida is here to talk about the mission
to Mars and the moon. And so is Nobel laureate physicist Douglas
Osheroff from Stanford. We also have radio talk show host Lionel with
us.
Congressman Feeney, let me begin with you.
Why should we be funding a moon colony and a mission to Mars right
now?
REP. TOM FEENEY ®, FLORIDA: Well, in the first place, Joe, I actually
am very excited about the president‘s proposal, even though I‘m one of
the leading fiscal conservatives, voted against the recent Medicare
proposal, partly because it does bust our budget, in my view.
But let me say this. Bottom line, Joe, exploration is important.
Research is important. But somebody on the face of the Earth is going
to control and dominate space in the next several decades and
centuries. If it‘s not the United States, it may be a hostile nation,
a hostile set of nations, or even a hostile or rogue terrorist group.
This is a matter in part of national security and homeland defense.
If we lose our dominance of low Earth and high Earth orbit, bottom
line is, we‘re going to risk our very security in the United States of
America.
[.....]
But I will repeat this. Somebody is going to dominate space. When
they do, just like when the British dominated the naval part of our
globe, established their empire, just like the United States has
dominated the air superiority, ultimately, whoever is able to dominate
space will be able to control the destiny of the entire Earth.
(CROSSTALK)
FEENEY: And I think America is the only country with the moral
capability and authority to establish what I consider a Monroe
Doctrine in space, guarantee all free nations can use space, but no
hostile nation will use it to take us over.

Typical of most of your leaders. You can measure their IQ by their shoe
size i.e. 9 1/2. A bankrupt nation going to mars and back to the moon, yeh
right! The only space travel these numbskulls will ever make is via their
hash pipes.

Is this a life imitates art scenario, with Space 1999 as the role

It's not as much the money part of this that bothers me as much as the
reasons for going.....so we can rule the moon and the earth before
somebody else does. That doesn't sound like motivation for bettering
mankind. That sounds like the motivation behind power and greed. That
sounds like it came straight out of GWB's mouth.
Space exploration is a good thing.....if in the right hands.
I wouldn't want to go there under the current administration.

Okay, maybe not now.
Sounds like a plan for the future.
Why? Just for the experience and you never know who you might meet on

Technology has improved since the first trip and the world deserves a

But with the advance of technology would you not expect, a probe/s to
be already there, giving HD webcam images, weather etc, and of course
your own digital soundtrack?
Maybe even "real MUDs", like your own Tamagochi on the Moon, could be
done now yes?
Save on that mission stuff.
Now if Popey can come up with the Ultimate in Lunar Euphoric

What a great idea.... The MOON-CAM!
A new cable channel-
LUNAR-TUNAS
(I know, name needs work..heh heh)
Playing Pink Floyd non-stop or moon related rock.
Showing the moon images 24/7

Absolutely -- HDTV with Dolby Surround sound
is the only way to go -- to watch the refinement,
mining and transportation of the moon oil back
for storage to Nevada. I hope somebody makes
a documentary of it all to show on some major
network in the future.
I'm so excited over it -- I'm gonna go smoke a
few kilos of mad cow beef jerky and make some
popcorn for the show. I just hope the FedEx
people can deliver my 51 inch Sony Plasma TV
in time to set it up to watch it all.

crude, up there, and thus your pump prices will not skyrocket in the
future?'
pardon the pun.
Don't worry about plenty of money. Bush is planning on free healcare

The moon is full of oil and the National Research Council for Space Energy
(which has an advanced research facility beneath the great Sphnix) have
developed a method to refine and transport all the moon oil back to the USA for
storage and use from the tanks for it - now being built in Nevada -- next to
the mountain storage facility that contains all of our nuclear waste.
They plan on using both in a high tech method of intergration and
processing to give us a new fuel to use for the next 100 years -
nuclear enriched moon oil.
