Pupil called 'gimp"'Teacher's behaviour 'made me sick to my stomach':

A Windsor area teacher facing numerous charges of professional
misconduct allegedly called one of his students suffering from muscular
dystrophy a "gimp" with "chicken legs" in a class, a disciplinary
hearing heard yesterday.
William Johan Fabel, who was fired in 2002 from teaching at St. Anne
Catholic high school, is before the Ontario College of Teachers after
students complained he threatened them with violence, taught the
Holocaust was an exaggeration and Adolf Hitler was a genius, and
denigrated blacks, Jews and gays.
Danielle Campo, a former student of Fabel who suffers from MD,
testified he was a monster who delighted in scaring kids and mocking
their disabilities.
"He made me ashamed of who I was. It's been five years and I'm still
scared to sit in the same room with him," said Campo, 21, who is a
national spokesman for the MD society of Canada, was on Canada's
national swim team and now works for the Children's Aid Society.
Campo also testified that during his history classes Fabel would tell
students how to slice a person open from the throat to the stomach to
let their guts fall out and told them what the victims in the World
Trade Centre towers would look like after their skin melted.
"He talked about how WWIII had already started and how places like the
Ambassador Bridge (where Campo's mother worked) would be a target. It
made me sick to my stomach," she said.
Under cross-examination, Campo admitted to signing a petition to have
Fabel re-instated to his job.
She said she only signed out of fear because she didn't know if he
would be allowed back to the school to teach.
Although Fabel allegedly downplayed the Holocaust, the College decided
not to present any evidence to prove he did.
Fabel denies all the allegations against him.

Actually he's from Windsor -- couple of hours west of T.O.
I had a teacher that, for detention, made you hold encyclopedia's in
hands with your arms stretched out straight. As your arms started to
drop he'd whack you in the rib-cage with a yard stick.
He left teaching to become a priest the last I heard.
Ah -- those were the days.

I thought Windsor was a satellite suburb of Toronto. Well, I've only
been to BC...
So you got the wooden yardstick treatment, too?? I had a 3rd-grade
teacher who called me out into the hallway during class. (I was making
muffled sounds, interrupting the *****.)
What I thought was going to be a lecture and a trip to the Principal's
office shockingly turned out to be a red-faced, bulge-eyed mad woman
grabbing one of my arms while hitting me in various places on my
backside, from upper legs to upper back. The hallway was empty at the
time. I remember she told me, as she was whacking away, "You're a nasty
little boy and you aren't gonna get away with it, you ugly little
*****."
Later, my mom went ballistic and demanded that she be fired (I had some
small welts for evidence). They transferred me out of her class
immediately, but kept her around until the end of the school year, then
dismissed the cruel witch. I was in fear of her while she was there,
and she would stare at me occasionally in the hallway or lunch room.
It was just one of a number of physically abusive episodes at the hands
of adults I encountered as I grew up. Sure, I was a lil' ***** at
times, but some of it was just purely psychotic adults (and some older
kids, too) getting their sick kicks.
Sorry about your experience. Hope it didn't turn you into a
psycho...heeheehee...I wasn't so lucky...bottoms up!
